What tests are done during a Fertility workup?
yesturday i went to the specailist and which was my second visit instead of giving me an xray he just order more blood work, cbc, ths and a fasting test, he ask me to call in when i get my cycle to come in on the third day, so he can view if my tube is block, and do i have to have my cycle first before i can get an mri or an xray on my uterus? he did confirm that my progestrone was low and he sait that he would have to put me on feterlity drugs, my question is do you know what type of prescrition the will be prescribing and what is the price range without insurance?

i just had my first visit at a fertility clinic and as luck would have it, they stopped accepting my insurance a year ago. the first visit was $215.00, there was blood work, a post coital test and exam for endometriosis, a vaginal ultra sound, and a HCG shot. my total was $536.00 (which includes the $215.00) they are sending out my bloodwork in order to have that covered by my insurance. i was also told i need to have laproscopic surgery and was referred to a surgeon that will accept my insurance provider. good luck!!!!
Still...,
Thanks for the detailed price breakdown and total that you paid for your first visit. Wow. It added up quickly.
Congrats on your current insurance covering some of the cost. A doctor's office finally told me the price they charge for a laproscopic surgery (outpatient) --- $2800, which is on top of the anthesthologist (sp), surgeon's cost, hospital cost, etc. SBasically looking at $100 $100000 total.
I finaly got a doc's office to tell me

Sorry I had a techy problem -- the reply box would not extend as I type.
Total laproscopic price estimated is b/w $5,000 and $10,000 --- probably closer to $10 K .
Hospitals have a Charity Department. I suggest that you contact theirs and ask for any and all assistance. The hospital's billing department can transfer you to them.
According to a local church, I hear that doctors or someone in their practice has the contact information and details on associations that can help with medical costs. The doc helps being giving the medical details needed about your case.
Dr. Q, please reply about these associations. Pretty please with sugar on top.
Please keep me updated. Good luck.

In order to get an accurate read on your fertility profile, you need to get your blood work on the third day of your cycle. The hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to view your tubes are done anywhere from when your period stops to before you ovulate (days 5-12)
Your specialist may give you Clomid to help you ovulate depending on the reason for you not ovulating...some people depending on the diagnosis are started on daily gonadotropin injections, and these will cost about $50/day for 10 days, unless you require a higher dose of medication (each gonadotropin vial costs about $50)
