What precuations to be taken if, found Placenta Previa in a 15 week

Abstain from lifting heavy things and strenuous activities and also sexual intercourse and basically you will be on pelvic rest or even bed rest at home or hospital depending on the nature of the placenta previa and the amount of bleeding one may experience.

If you spot or bleed at any point you have to go to the Dr immediately. Sometimes the placenta can move up as the pregnancy progresses so hopefully yours will too. Do not worry many women have this and deliver a healthy baby as long as the Dr's instructions are followed. Your Dr will also monitor you more closely.

One more point which i wann to clarify from you that in routine i walk around 2 to 2.5 km & climb some stairs while coming to office....since i use METRO so, is this OK or shld i use some other mode of Transport for safety sake.

Bhatia I would speak with your dr about such things but this situation even your current activity could be an issue however only your dr can say the do's and don'ts in your current case.

Most docs do not put patients on any specific restrictions UNLESS you are having bleeding. At 15 wks a huge percentage of women have a previa (I still do at 20 wks) & it almost always moves out of the way. I would ask your doc if you need to follow any specific instructions but if you are not bldg then you should be just fine! I don't think you even need to think about bed rest at this stage of pregnancy, especially if you are not having any problems. It is very, very common & I would not worry about it!

I agree with Mojito, I have a very low lying placenta and that is what I was told too. It would move away, but no STRENUOUS activities like heavy lifting and esp intercourse since you dont want to disturb the placenta. Why wait for it to bleed and then be on rest? Absitance is better if possible esp during pregnancy. Thats just my opinion. I think walking, cooking and all that is ok.

Bhatia, I also mentioned that you would need to be on rest depending on the bleeding so if you are not they may not put you on bed rest.
