What is the male involvement for IUI?

An IUI might be the next step for us and I was just wondering what exactly is the male role in this?

I know they do a sperm washing. Does my husband have to go into a clinic to give a sample, or can he do it at home and bring it in?

And is that all he has to do really?

HI Mrs P.

If you live close to the clinic, he can provide a sample at home if he chooses.

Since we live an hour away, they ask my husband to go in 2 hours before me, give a sample, they do the washing, and I go in 2 hours later and get the IUI. Its a very simple process, for both the man and the women. Good luck and Baby dust.

Hi Mrs P If you wanna get the hubby's job done at home, there are certain precautions you need to take, I think the lab will provide with a sterile container and all that. Talk to your lab or Dr about this but many have done this for an S/A but not sure about an IUI

he has the easy part - well kinda cuz he has to deal with my craziness with theinjections but really all he has to do is drop his stuff in a container. Nice hey?

docs can do it differently, 1 of my docs requires that the sample be done at the office and the other doc i had made him do it at home and hten bring it in right away. needs to be brought in within the hour and should be kept warm during that time - like driving wiht it invetween your legs or something.

My DH and i preferred to do it at the office, so we knew all was done correclty :)

Thanks. The clinic is only 15 minutes from our home so that's good. He was able to do it at home for his SA, just wondering about the IUI since he works and goes to school and his schedule is pretty demanding.

Thanks for the help!
