What do you count as the first day of your period?

If you had spotting(pink and brown blood) for 2 days and then bright red bleeding the 3rd day, what is considered day 1 of your cycle? Do you count spotting or the 1st day of bright red bleeding?

CD 1 is the first day of full flow bleeding however if you normally have a light period my doc says the first day of red blood.

yup, it's not the color, it's the volume. "full flow" is the key... whatever "full flow" is for you.
