What are the chances..traveling and stress affecting ovulation

June 08, 2008

My LMP was May 4. I got a +OPK on CD17 this cycle and I usually ovulate 1-2 days after a +OPK. AF was due June 3-5, the 5th being the latest. My periods are never longer than 31 days. I am CD36 and 16-18DPO. I took HPTs on Thurs and Fri. in the afternoon and got BFNs.

I have heard so much about traveling and stress affecting ovulation. We traveled CD20-CD23 but I should have ovulated before that. I was also stressed for a couple of days about a week before I got the +OPK b/c of DH's S/A results but was quickly calmed down by my doctor. I had my FSH, estradiol, and LH checked on CD3 and they were normal.

What are the chances that I did not ovulate or ovulated really late this cycle b/c of the traveling or couple of days of stress. I have never in my life skipped a period or been this late before. I would love to think I am pregnant but I am in denial from the BFNs and all the rumors about how stress and traveling can affect ovulation. I keep telling myself that this is just an off month. I am so scared to see another BFN..Is it normal for some women to get late BFPs? We have been trying for 9 months and are praying so hard that this is it.

Laura, if u got a true LH surge, then ovulation is imminent. There is always a possibility you are pregnant perhaps a defective HPT. Best to wait for a few days and still no AF, talk to your Dr who can confirm.

Having said that, possible that the OPK on CD 17 was wrong and u ovulated pretty late in ur cycle. Has happened to many even in here abt misread OPKs or defective strips. Stress really affects ovulation and travel may not unless it was extensive and very tiring.

Hope its the former case for ya...Good luck n keep us posted
