What are the benifits of a prolonged IVF protocol?

HI-

This cycle, I am taking estrace after ovulation.

Starting stimulation after next period.

I am 41.6 with 3 failed IUI's and 2 cancelled IVF's.

Any insight into the benifits and reasons for the prolonged protocol?
