hi dr, i'm 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my second child.and the dr told me to do viginal ultrasound at 7 weeks and 2 days i'm not sure if i should do it or not as with my first child yes i did but at 10 weeks i had a risk of m/c ( i didn't not) becuase my cervix was open and i don't know if that caused by the ultrasound or no thanks god i didn't miscarry but i'm worry that wil happen again if i had the viginal ultrasound, should i do it or not, and how soon can i do abdnoramal ultrasound??? please advice.

i had a regular ultra sound at 7 weeks and 4 days. so if you dont feel comfortable doing it, i recomend not doing it. do what you feel is right, its your baby

Hi Madlin,

There's no real risk of miscarriage with a Vaginal Ultrasound, we REs perform these all the tme...

So whenever your doc indicates that you need an ultrasound, may be good to follow this advise as ultraounds in any form of use is safe for the fetus

Hey Madlin, My Dr detected the heartbeat and took the fetal measurements at 6 W 2 days by a Trans Abdominal Ultrasound. So, my guess is if ur dating is accurate, then you can have a Trans A done instead of a Vaginal. But ask your Dr.

Madlin,

I had multiple vaginal ultrasounds with this pregnancy. One at 5,6,9, and 12 weeks. I'm almost 25 weeks pregnant now and everything is fine. Hopefully this offers you some reassurance.

i have also had the internal u/s both at 6wks and 10wks, both times they did the one on the tummy but said you can get better images and measurements with the internal, and it is so true, you can see it so much better. i have seen the heartbeat both times. 6wks it was 126 and 10wks it was 163, doc said i could hear it but he would rather me not as he device can heat the uterus up to much.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound done at 6wks, 2days..no harm done and I was able to not only see the heartbeat, but I heard it too, only for a second though, but it was sooo cool! This is very safe.
