Lisa, I am shocked that this group has been so careless and then responded to your concern by saying that kids need to see this kind of stuff to understand abortion. That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Graphic material like that will not help children understand abortion, all it will do is give those sweet, innocent children nightmares. Oh my gosh!!! I am so angry and infuriated! Yesterday a anti-abortion group was parading though the area with a very grim and morbid van with a coffin on it that said R.I.P. They also went around the area putting booklets/magazine in people's doors that contained VERY explicit, grotesque and upsetting pictures of aborted babies of all stages of pregnancy. While I am not livid about WHAT this group was trying to get accross- what infuriates me is the process on how they went about getting their point accross! FIRST of all... they did NOT knock on doors and talk to people- instead they took it upon themselves to stick these obsene fliers in people's doors! No knocking, no talking- just sticking them in the doors. Why does this piss me off you may ask- well for starters I don't feel I should have to come home to this crap. While I am not 100% against abortion- I am also not 100% pro-choice. I understand why in SOME cases abortion may sadly be the best option. (rape, incest, extreme drug/alcohol syndrome, etc) (hey it's merely my opinion- I don't want to hear criticism if you disagree)
My biggest issue with this groups tactic is the fact that they expose young children to these pictures! This flyer was in the door when my 6 year old niece got off her school bus!!!!! Thank goodness my sister was able to grab the booklet-flyer before Jordan did! But what would have happened if Kim didn't see it and JOrdan picked it up and looked at it!? The poor kid would have SERIOUSLY been traumatized! The pictures are extremely graphic and gruesome. But what about the other kids in the neighborhood who get off their school bus to an empty home? They came home to find the exact same booklet in their door! and I bet they opened it to see what it was just like any other "normal" person would when there is something on their door! I can not even imagine how some of those kids reacted! These are pictures that an adult shouldn't even have to see much less a child! Even the most "mature" gradeschooler is not emotionally or mentally ready to handle such graphic images!!!! Then I find out that this same group of people who were handing out this crap was on Highway 35 yesterday holding large billboard type of signs with the same gruesome pictures of REAL dead babies on it! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLY LEGAL!?!?!? But apparently it is- covered under freedom of speech. Sad. I just don't understand how it is okay for this group to distrubute obsene and mutilated photos of babies- but it's not okay for a child to buy a video game that is rated MA! I see how a video game- even if it IS violent is sooo much worse than this "information" SUCH BULLSHIT! I just don't get it! A child (unless 18 or older ) needs parental permission to view or buy R (or PG-13) rated movies, CDs with explicit lyrics, etc. But apparently it is OKAY for children of ANY age to view and see these mortifying images that are distributed by this religious/christian group. These pictures in my opinion are FAR worse than any horror movie I've seen- and these are REAL photographs! These are photographs taken of aborted fetuses of various stages in the pregnancy. There is NO question as to what these photographs are- and kids will definitely know that the pictures are of dead babies- many of which have their intestines and internal organs hanging out of them! I feel that if a parent feels their child is mature enough to handle images such as these-fine that is a person's parental right to do what THEY feel is best for that child. But under NO circumstances do I feel that it is okay for some religious group (or any other group) to take upon themselves to "educate" in such a way.

They completely overdid everything. This is just ridiculous. Graphic material should be distributed in public with consent and not just left on people's doorstep like some comic strip. This act is irresponsible, no matter what cause it is for and would only take away all their innocence. regardless of the message being extolled, i can't believe these people don't have the common decency not to leave that stuff on people's doors. unfortunately, they have a free speech right to be able to go on to private property and solicit and hand out and speak about their "cause". it's our right to shut the door in their face, but of course in this instance, they just leave horrific photos for anyone to see.

I am wicked upset hearing this. I'll have you know that I'd be just as upset if my 14yr old daughter saw those pics especially after just having had a baby myself and my children understanding the process of how a baby grows, I'd never want them to see how one is "taken" away. I speak to my kids about making the right choices as they grow and it is our responible and our decision as the parents to decide when and how our children learn right from wrong, not any christian group or any group for that matter! I would be sure to tell them Lisa that they are not allowed on your property in the future!
I cant believe that!!! OMG, I am not one to sit around and take that crap. Once my daughter and I were driving and there were people picketing by the street with the signs of babies chopped up from a m/c and all types of unacceptable posters and yelling and stuff. I had to deal with ? From my daughter and she had nightmares for weeks about it. I vowed to say something to those people the next time I saw them. I did, they picket there a lot. I was driving and again saw them and they are right next to your car so you CANT get away from them. I pulled into the parking lot and told them that was offensive and what they had done to my daughter, they didnt care. I asked them where they were gonna be after the mother gave birth to a child who they couldnt or didnt want to care for or were they gonna be there to help counsel the lady that was raped and now reminded each and every day of the horrible thing taht happened to her. They had nothing to say. They are not gonna be there to help, they just want to tell you what to you with YOUR body. I am not for abortion, actually against it I spose, but I do believe that it’s a choice and that there are plenty of reasons why someone may want or need to have one done.

That is sickening! And their reasoning is ludacrious, but then again extremist groups like this are not usually rational people. As for calling themselves Christians, that is also ridiculous, as it is against Christ's teachings to inflict harm to others. I can understand their desire to speak out against/express concern for the unborn, but their concern should also extend to the children ALREADY born & this in NO WAY is appropriate material for a child to see. I myself would have trouble with images like that, let alone being able to explain them to a child!

I'm not upset about the CONTENT or their stand on pro-life or anti-abortion. Iam upset about HOW this group is going around carelessly leaving their literature around. A person's stand on abortion is irrelevent. BOTTOM LINE: They SHOULD not be INTENTIONALLY exposing children to the content oftheir booklets. Lisa, I was just about to comment on the birth control thing. I just read that. I've been snooping around there site for a while. How dare they? That is so ridiculous! These are obviously radical people that no matter how much we dislike it, they will always be around. But, I think someone should definitely complain about the was they are going about promoting this.

Yeah Lisa....sooo demented! I got madder and madder looking at that site. I almost sent them an email. To distribute the graphic material like...I mean, if an 18 yr old walked into an abortion clinic to get one done just b/c she didn't want it, I would shove the pics in front of her AT THE CLINIC. I mean after all, she should see the proof of what happens after the procedure, right? But to throw them out everywhere, where little ones can see it is ridiculous and shouldn't be allowed. The whole birth control thing really pissed me off. I read where the site said "God said be fruitful and multiply" and to prevent that by birth control was a form of abortion and murder...which I don't believe. Lisa, i don't know that it's as simple as they can or they can't come to your door, but like i said you need to look into the ordinances against trespassing on private property. if this were an apartment you might be able to ask your landlord to put up signs prohibiting solicitation...

Oh and i forgot, Lisa, you might want to contact NARAL (a pro-choice group) http://www.naral.org/ or NOW http://www.now.org/ to see if they might sue on your behalf, or at least get some ideas as to what action plan you can take to prevent these vultures from their scare tactics.
