Unexplained Infertility - Next Steps
July 09, 2008
Hi Dr. Q - was looking for your thoughts here. I am 31, DH is 30. All of our tests have shown great results. Diagnosed as 'unexplained infertility'. We've been TTC for 2 years now and just found out about the unexplained infertility. RE said we have 2 options: Straight to IVF OR Chlomid & Injectables for awhile. What do you think?
Hi Sar, we have another appt with the RE on Aug 7. Because I just had the HSG last month I think she wants to wait a few months to see if it does anything for us. I'm going to use OPK's this month as I have never used them before. I guess on we'll get into the 'odds' question on Aug 7. I do recall; however, when I had an internal u/s with the RE, she said 'oh you have an excellent uterus - you would be an excellent candidate for IVF' - so I'm assuming our odds are pretty good.
That's awesome news. After my second m/c I had an ultrasound done and was told the same thing about my uterus, that it was picture perfect...it made me laugh :)
The first month I started to use opk's I got pregnant, as I ovulated four days earlier then I thought I was. So very very best of luck to you! Oh and I used the clearblue easy opk kit the digital one, it was so easy to understand when it was positive with the smile face in the circle for positive and an empty circle for negative.

When you get the positive opk it means you'll ovulate within 12 to 36 hours. So make sure you start bd'ing (having sex) every other day the week you expect to ovulate, then again the night you get a positive opk and also the following night...just to be sure. lol I also think that the doggy style position is awesome for conceiving and others on here also do it missionary with a pillow under their bum. :)

I don't have a good medical answer for you but I thought I'd share my opinion if that's okay...
If your insurance covers IVF and you're anxious to get preggers and don't mind the risk of multiples, then go for the IVF! That's only my opinion, but I'm not a very patient person...lol so I'd wanna get preggers as fast as I could :)
Good luck and let us know the route you choose to take! I'm also curious if the doc gave you the odds of being successful with the IVF?*********babydust**********
