Unable to conceive... feel like a failure

July 18, 2008

Hi There:

I just recently joined this site. What a great idea! Well my husband an I are approaching two years of ttc with no success. We have been referred to a fertility specialist in our area and expect to get an appointment within the next 2 months.

We have already had loads of tests done: ultrasounds for me, laproscopy which showed everything to be normal, 14 day ovulation test, end cycle blood test, semen analysis. Everything has turned out normal so far, which frustrates me even more because I can't understand why it is taking so long.

Meanwhile like many of you have experienced I'm sure, I am surrounded by pregnant people and repeatedly reminded of that fact that I am childless. Even harmless conversations like discussing hobbies turn ugly when I am told that I am the only one that has time for hobbies because I don't have a child. At work I am often volunteered for extra curricular activities which will run later into the evening because I have no children to go home to.

I feel like a complete failure!

Hi Robyn and welcome to the site. My heart goes out to you. There are so many couples on this site and including my dh and I understand your pain.

Has your dr placed you on fertility meds? That would be the next logically step to do. If you want to move toward agressive treatement you can do gonf injections and IUI or even move to IVF+ICIS. You can look at this site for more information by using the "browse" box and type in Fertility Medications and Advanced Techology for futher information.

Keep us posted and ***babydust***.
