Shucks, I did it again, I hit enter too early!

Okay, so I had my first ultrasound today.

I am EXACTLY 4 weeks since ovulation (March 5th) today.

The ultrasound showed a gestational sac, a yolk sac, and a probable fetal pole with no obvious cardiac activity. The measurements suggest a gestational age of 5 weeks 2 days.

This is 5 days behind what my ovulation date suggests. Is this something to be concerned about?

I am again a nervous wreck about this, any information would be appreciated!

Thanks!

A gestational sac is a poor predictor of dating...once a fetal pole is noted, then this should correlate well with dates via a crown-rump length...

You may start seeing a fetal pole with some cardiac activity at about 6 1/2 wks..

This has happened to me too.. My doc keep telling me I am a week further along than know I am. I know the exact date I ovulated /concieved yet my babies are measuring bigger?

Hey ladies, this happened to me as well where they measured the gestational sac at 3 days less than when i actually conceived. but they did tell me regardless of anything, they will measure the age by the CRL and that as the weeks progress it will get more accurate. AND they said nothing to worry about as far as date unless the age discrepancy is by 2 weeks or more.

Thanks.

Maybe I went in expecting to see too much, I researched on the web and saw many pics of ultrasounds at 6 weeks, mine didn't look the same way :(

I just hope and pray all is okay in there!

I'm sure all is well. Once they see more...fetal pole and all they can measure more accurately! Good luck and sticky glue to you!

All babies develop differently at differently paces. Give it another week and you'll see that fetal pole and heartbeat via a vaginal u/s. Like I said in another post, the babies grow at such a rapip rate this early on, it truly is amazing how a few days can make a HUGE difference. Try not to worry, Dr. Q is so right when he says the gest sac is not a good way to measure how far along you are. You're doing great and your little bean is working hard at growing for his mama!

Better, it is advisable to see around 8weeks! you can avoid these unnecessary tension...By that time you can get an accurate information. My first u/s was around 8 weeks only! All the best!!
