Tubal untied

August 27, 2007

I just had my tubes ties in Jan.'06, and I would like to know what are the chances of me becoming pregnant if reversed? About how much does it cost to get the precedure done.

Hi Tunya,

It all depends on how your tubes were tied. If done immediately after birth, or if they clipped the tubes and/or just cut and tied them, then you can have upto 70%pregnancy rate. If the tubes were burned laparoscopically (which if done this way, vast majority of time they are), then there may be very little tube left behind to reconnect, dramatically decreasing the pregnancy rate. Tubal reversal is a good option if you're still under 35 y/o, otherwise, would start thinking about IVF for a second child.

Costs vary from city to city and hospital to hospital. On average, expect to pay around $6,000 for the procedure
