I had to get a sono on Saturday, long story short the nurse told me I needed more meds that I wasn’t ready yet. Also told me I had 6 follicles on my left side and 1 on my right. I have a total of 7, not 5. Well she gave me 2 doses of meds to take home as I was out of it and no Dr. was in the office. I had a message on my cell phone when I got home saying that they talked to the Dr. and that I was only needed to take a half of one of the doses of meds as the Dr. is very concerned that I have so many follicles the same size. Meaning they will almost all be ready to burst at the same time, which dramatically increases my chances of having multiples. Anyways they also wanted me to come back to the Dr. office on Sunday morning to get another sono. Looks like I’m ready, they told me to take my trigger shot last night and I will go in for my IUI first thing in the morning. I’m excited, nervous but excited!! I really hope the 2nd IUI is the taker!!
TTC for 18 months
January 23, 2008
My DH and I have been TTC for about 18 months. We got a BFP in 2/07 and it ended in a miscarriage 3/07. We have of course been trying ever since and have had no luck. We are seeing an RE now, I had the typical HSG, blood tests, etc. He had a semen analasys done as well. I am fertile and healthy and he has a low sperm count. 11.6 million was his count but he has great motility and morphology so we have our fingers crossed. We have done one IUI with 50mg of Clomid last month and got a BFN. My RE wanted to take a more aggressive approach as I have a very short cycle (start my period every 25 days) so now I'm on Gonal F and 100mg of Clomid. We go in for our 2nd IUI on 1/26/07. Baby dust to all!
Okay so here's an update after this weekend of nothing but going to the dr's office!

Hey Dana,
Just checking in to see how you are going? Any baby news for me?
Haven't been online all week cause the Irish weather was too depressing and I booked flights and headed to Spain for 5 days with my Mum and little fella.
Got af over there but was expecting that so it didn't bother me. . .besides I gave all my baby dust to you lol

Well i'm still trying as you probably know. Today is 11dpo/IUI and I still feel nothing. I'm on progesterone as my test was low. So far no AF and no sign he is coming but it may be because of the progesterone. I think this month is a bust but if I don't start by Friday I go in for a test. I won't take one myself.
Hey
Hopefully things will go right for you this month but if not then the next- I have a feeling in my waters as my mum says! No AF is a great sign though hun, I really hope it works for you guys.
I'm just sitting here in work and waiting for mine to show up. 13 days dpo and bfn. . . surprise surprise!
I have an gyn appointment on 12th of this month so I'll be interested to see what's going on and if I'm still working etc or if he finds tumble weed rolling around in there lol.
We are actually going to have a break for a while now cause my niece has been diagnosed with leukemia (last Monday). They started her chemo the same day so we are waiting to hear how her numbers are later on. she' only ten and we are all devastated but the drs are hopeful so we are too! Think it's time to concentrate on the family I have already and make sure we get through this before I throw myself into ttc again.
Wishing you all the luck in the world Missy. . this will happen for you. . and you'll make a super mom.

Thanks girl. I think this month is a bust. I think the only reason I'm haven't started is the progesterone. I think I may stop by and get a test on the way home so I can prove i'm not pregnant and quit taking these progesterone supplements. I don't feel it necessary to go to the dr for a blood test when I know deep down there isn't really a chance i'm pregnant.
I'm sorry to hear about your niece. That is so sad. We are going through throat cancer with my husbands granny and it's sooooooo sad, we are all so close. We just found out. So i hear ya we aren't doing another IUI for a month or two as my husband wants to try naturally.

Hey girlie, I'm doing okay. Have another sonogram tomorrow but I went Monday and I had 5 follicles off of Femara so it was nice. We go in for our IUI Saturday morning after taking 2 months off. I sure hope we finally get this right. DH's grandma passed away about 3 weeks after she found out she had the cancer. It was sad. How are you doing? Lots of BFP's on this site lately. I sure hope ours is right around the corner.
I so sorry for the loss of dh Gran.
How exciting IUI - thats fantastic new. I'll be keeping everything crossed that you get your BFP. It's so your time Dana.
No BPF for me I'm afraid. DH sa came back only .5 mill sperm and only 5% motility :(
We are devastated and our only hope is ivf with icsi. . .be hey there's still hope right!

You need to get DH on Tribulus! Check this site out and trust me! There is a girl on here, Kelly I've been talking to. She just got a faint positive yesterday after her IUI. Her DH had a 2.5 Million count and then after taking Tribulus for 2 month his count went to 8.3. My DH has been on FertilityBlend for Men for 3 months now, that is why we are going to try IUI again. I had such a great turn out egg wise with Femara are only hope is that we get a better sperm count then we have a great chance. Go to this website: http://www.physicianformulas.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=99 and you can also google Terrestris Tribulus and Fertility, I read some great stuff googling those together. I'm going to get DH on that stuff if this IUI doesn't take.
Hi Ya,
How the wait going for you after your IUI. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Thanks for the advise on tribulus terrestris but I looked it up and Ireland won't allow it to be shipped here - I don't know why- that damn government of ours!!!! - ivf has to be paid outta pocket, 6 mnths wait for ivf clinic's, 6 mnth wait for an RE appt and 6-8mnths wait for a urologist appt - God I'll be 40 by the time I get my bfp!!!

Christine, I'm just curious about a the waiting time to get with Dr's. over there in Ireland. I have heard many women on here complain about all the wait times over in the UK and Canada. I don't understand? Is it because you don't have private insurance? Is the government running the health care system? I'm just curious because over here in the US, there are a million Drs. constantly competing for business and most of time you can get appts. within 2 weeks or so. Maybe sometimes a little longer for specialists. Many people over here want a government run healthcare system. I am totally against it and now after hearing about what some ladies on here have gone thru in other countries, I am totally against it. Maybe there is more to it that I don't understand. Just wondering.
Hi Julsbake,
The government do run the health system on a medical card / private basis. Basically you have to be on the poverty line to get one of those and all of your medical care is free and paid for by the tax payers. Most people including my family have private health insurance it help with waiting times for some procedures but it doesn't help with the waiting lists for others. Most consultants have to work in public hospitals and only work out of there rooms for private patients once or twice a week hence the waiting times. IVF isn't covered by insurance or medical card and there are only 3 decent clinics in Ireland. I called one of them for an appointment last month and they said april, I called again to reschedule last week and they said late MAY early JUNE!! Demand outweighs supply here I'm afraid.
Basically the health system here sucks and I would hope that Canada sticks to what it has already.
One example is that last year my Grandfather who was in his 90's and was gravely ill was left on a trolley in the corridor in the ER room for 2 days until they found him a bed and he had private health insurance (he passed away a few days later)!! There are stories like that everyday - not enough beds, not enough nurses or doctors and not enough hospitals. The government has actually close two hospitals in my area and is stopping cancer screening and care in one too so people will have to travel to Dublin for this now. It's a disaster!
Ireland is a lovely place to go on holidays but just make sure you don't get sick while you are here lol.

Wow, hearing your stories makes me realize how very fortunate I am to be living here. So sorry to hear about the loss of your grandfather and his aweful experience. I live about 45 min. north of a major city but we have a very good hospital about 10 min. from our home and another 3 about 30 min. away. I actually live 45 min. from Johns Hopkins Hospital. Not sure if you have heard of it. It's supposed to be very world renowned. Patients come from all over the world seeking treatment there. I will count my blessings! Best wishes to you Christine and I hope the time will pass quickly until you can get the treatments you need.
