Me and my boyfriend are having troubles conceiving, we have been trying for about 2yrs now and still nothing. I am considering going to the doctors to get checked out and was wondering what would the process be and is it affordable?? (p.s i do live in Alberta, Canada if that makes a difference).

hi tammy18...I first went to my OB-GYNE for well woman work-up (physical exam,Pap smear)and brought the issue of wanting to have a baby.My husband and i have been trying for a year now so he then referred me to his collegue for infertility work-up(lab works, hysterosalphingogram to check if your fallopian tubes are patent,semen analysis for my hubby).My visits to my OB-gyne were covered by my insurance but the infertility visit and work up were not, i paid out of pocket,then the infertility MD referred me to Dr.Q (saw him today and he's the BEST!!!he's very nice and very easy to talk to)...i'm from LA,California.Most health insurance here do not cover infertility but if you have insurance, call them to see to up to what extent they would cover your work-up,if they do...Good Luck.

Fertility is considered part of the nationalized health care system in Canada as far as I'm aware... (Canadians on this site..HELP if I'm wrong!!)Although the wait can be long to get in, it is usually very affordable for its citizens
