Trying to Conceive

July 19, 2008

Me and my fiance have been trying to concieve for about a year and some months with no success. I know that my periods are very irregular like I have a period last almost over a month and then I wont have one for about 3 months. I also know that I dont ovulate. Someone told me that I might have PCOS and I researched it and think that I do. What do you think I should do to try and conceive???

Hi Aj and Welcome to the site! I would recommend for you to find a RE-fertility specialist (you can use this site to find one if you live in the USA-go to the "browse" and go to "Doctors/Clinics" and you can run a search for your area). RE can help you determin what is going on via running test on you and your dh. Plus place you on fertility meds and monitior your progress. Keep us posted and ***babydust****

you can also try an obgyn first, there are medicines such as Clomid and Metformin which can help you ovulate and it's given to PCOS patients....if your doctor diagnoses you with that, you can search this site for PCOS and you'll find more info too....including other members who became pregnant with PCOS

Thanks for the advice. I have defiently been reading up on other people's situtions and found some very useful info. I heard about different herbs that help that I want to try. I am willing to do anything. Do any one know any good insurance carriers that help with infertility???

What state do you live in?

July 19, 2008

Texas

Mandates insurance carriers that provide pregnancy–related benefits to offer coverage of infertility diagnosis and treatment, including IVF, to group policyholders.

I believe the exceptions to this rule are 1) if you are a federal employee or 2) if you work for a company with fewer than 50 employees

woooow that sucks so I will be paying out of pocket lol.

There is a great website I can give you that will research your insurance for you and let you know of all the coverage available. Infertility treatment and tests are VERY expensive, for my bloodwork alone it was over $5000.

I would research your fiances insurance as well, as once you are married you may be added to his plan.

I am sorry the rule about 50 or more employees does not seem to be the case in Texas.

Does your work offer more than one insurance?
