Trigger shot vs no trigger shot

My doctor advised me against the trigger shot the first month of clomid because she was concerned about hyperstimulation for me....I haven't gotten the shot because my husband and I aren't crazy about the idea of multiples...I'm now on month 5 of clomid, should I get the shot?

I dont think the HCG trigger shot will cause multiples. It only helps releasing the mature follicles created by clomid. So, if clomid produced multiple follicles, the HCG will trigger it to release the egg. thats it..

The HCG trigger shot is just an equivalent of ur body's natural LH that triggers ovulation

If u had 2-4 mature follicles(around 20 mm) each month then its prolly because of the clomid.

my doctor seems to be really concerned about me taking the trigger shot, but the ultrasound techs are always pushing it

Hi Jody,

I would get the hcg shot. Only because you can time ovulation perfectly! Because either way you will always ovulate all the mature eggs u have so the hcg shot will only help time ovulation better!

Just an update, I had 4 mature follicles so my doctor advised me not to do the shot because it can easily lead to multiples w/that many mature follicles so I'm on my own again, we'll see.

I didn't get the trigger shot because I had four huge follicles and my doctor said odds of me having multiples was pretty high....nothing happened so my hubby and i decided to take a break from the clomid for a while.
