tilted uterus

March 07, 2008

so i went to the dr today finally. no heartbeat was detected, and she told me that was normal cuz only 50% of the time you hear the heartbeat at 10wks. she also said my uterus was tilted backwards. what exactly does that mean? like is there going to be more complications during pregnancy or risks? (like c-section or something)...any info would be helpful

Hi Audrey,

Congrats on the pregnancy! I also have a tilited uterus and my doc has never said anything about it being an issue. I think that I read it is like being left or right handed. But of course I could be completely wrong. I hope not, but you never know! Ask your doc next time. They will explain everything. Of maybe someone else on this site can help! Take care!

Audrey and Fran, i also have a tipped uterus... i never really knew what it meant, but my dr. said it was not a big deal. But i wonder, if it's tilted backwards toward the rectum, does this mean as the baby gets bigger we'll have problems having BM? yuck, i hope not. :-(

I was told I have a tilted uterus too. This is my 4th pregnancy and with my first 3 I had back labor, with my 3rd ending in c-section. I am not sure, but would that be why I have the back labor? I don't remember being constipated with my first 3, but this one is more constipating.

I heard that the only thing to think about with a tilted uterus is that you will have more back labor when you are in labor- other than that I heard its not an issue at all!

Congrats on your pregnancy!
