The Forty TTC Crowd

Hey everyone, I am 40 going through all this fertilily stuff.

I have one daughter who is 15 and after 14 years of not being able to get pregnant, I did. That ended in an 8 week miscarriage. After several rounds of Clomid, I did an IUI back in March and it worked, but the baby's heart stopped at 13 weeks. 4 days ago I did another IUI; 3rd time is the charm!! This is a long two week wait, but the pregnancy test is in hand!

I also write a blog about my experience called, "The Daily Michelle"

if you google it, you will find it.

I, like other women over 40 have a unique quality in that

we don't have a whole lot of time to play with. It is like a rush against time. Good Luck to everyone, and I am looking forward to hearing about other experiences!

Hi Michelle, I'm not 40 yet but 39 and am feeling time running out. What did you use with this last IUI? Clomid or injectables? How many follicles did you have? I'm currently in the middle of my 6th IUI cycle trying to conceive #2. My son is turning 4 this week. I only have one good tube as one was lost from a prior ectopic a long time ago. At my cd10 u/s this morning I had 7 follicles and 4 of them are on the side of my "good" tube. This will be my last IUI before moving to IVF. Have you ever considered it? This is my 3rd IUI using injectables so I'm getting used to all the shots, b/w and u/s's.

Here's to both of us having successful IUI's this time!!!

i will be 40 in october. have been ttc #1 for over 3 years. long battle with infertility and 2 misses along the way. just finished 4 rounds of clomid. am going for IVF consultation tomorrow. sooo nervous. can't believe how fast the years are going by. had no idea this would all be so hard. i am glad to have found you "forty crowd" ladies. it's good to have someone to share our stories with. hopefully, we'll all have happy endings to our stories! best of luck to you both!

I did the injectibles this time and for the IUI before this. No side effects, no problems. My issue is not getting pregnant with an IUI, it's about the baby not having chromosomal problems.

I had 3 follicles this time and the same last time. I will consider IVF if the IUI doesn't work the next 2 times. I think one of the hardest things to deal with is the time running out!

I am thinking positive and saying lots of prayers.

Good luck to both of you!!

Great having other people like me! Bear with me, I don't know all the abbreviations on here!

Hi Msquared, good luck with your consultation tomorrow.

I'm finding that this site really helps me through all of this. Being able to relate to others in the same situation eases some of the anxiety. I think at our age and with other treatments not working, IVF is the best way to go if one has ins. coverage and/or can afford it. I'm done with IUI's after this one!! Too much work for such a small chance of getting pregnant. I'd rather do a few more shots and have way better odds.

Michelle, I checked out your blog. You are pretty funny and have a good attitude about this lovely journey us "forty" crowd faces. I'm sorry that you lost your baby at 13 weeks, I can't imagine how hard that was. I worry all the time about having a healthly baby at this age. I hate reading the statistics. I've actually stopped reading them. I will cross those bridges when I come to them. I'm trying to take one step at a time. Please ask me about any abbreviations in question. When I first came to this site I had fun trying to figure them all out.

Thank you!! I try to be funny most of the time, but some of the entries are semi-serious. You should read some past posts, especially the one about Saturday Night Live. If you are trying to have a baby, you will understand what I mean!

Don't worry, I will be asking about the abbreviations!

Yes, losing the baby at 13 weeks was hard. It was worse because we were on our way to vacation in Savannah. So, having a D&C and then driving for 12 hours in the car and walking around in 98 degree weather was worse!

Hello ladies....wishing you the BEST :)

My hubby and I tried to have a baby after a m/c in 1992, with many fertility treatments and a break while on bcp's for a couple years...then took myself off them and had severe dysplasia and a few treatments for that...then after so many normal paps, my OB offered an Ovarian Drilling (I have pcos) and 2 cycles on my own (odd for me) we got pregnant with our miracle, Ryanne (ree-anne), and I had her at 39, one month after giving birth I turned 40.

I had 2 m/c's last year...one in June and one in Oct, at age 41. We are currently trying to get pregnant, with the aid of Soy Isoflavones....and am 10dpo....hoping that we can give our

daughter a sibling....but being 42, time is definitely against us, but we have HOPE :)

Just wanted to chime in and give my best to you all on achieving your BFP's :)

Thanks in advance!

BFP = big fat pregnancy

BFN = big fat negative

TTC = trying to conceive
