Symptoms during 2 week wait?

Hello doctor,

I think there was some confusion about my last question. Now that I'm passed ovulation time, I'm wondering whether I can expect any symptoms of pregnancy between now (3 dpo) and my expected period on Aug. 24? I often read about women who feel symptoms very, very early on and I must say, I find it hard to believe. So I'd like your opinion...IF I conceived this month, would I have any symptoms or is this unusual so early on? Many thanks.

Hi Christine,

Progesterone, the pregnancy hormone, is the same hormone produced post-ovulatory by your corpus luteum (ruptured follicle that ovulated). Hence, if you wind up pregnant, those same symptoms will persist and may get a little worse since you're body/pregnancy will be producing even more progesterone

Hello doctor -- last question today, I promise!

I've noticed that today I've been having dull cramps just above my pubic bone. What could be causing this? I'm 3-4dpo, so I believe it is too early for implantation, right? Also, assuming I actually did get pregnant this month, isn't it unlikely that I'd feel any symptoms until AT LEAST implantation has occured (5-8 days after ovulation)?

Thanks so much. You've helped me understand a great deal about my fertility.

Absolutely correct Christine,

You've got implantation dates correct, because at this time, the embryo is still in the fallopian tubes. I wish I could tell you exactly what's causing the cramps above your pubic bone, but very unlikely to be fertility related at this time. Let us know how things are going, and like always...

Hello doctor,

Today is not a good day. I am feeling very hopeless about being pregnant this month. Not sure why -- I just don't feel any symptoms, and it's so discouraging to read about women who feel symptoms so early on (see www.twoweekwait.com).

Although I don't know for sure, I expect that I'm not pregnant this month. And it's so frustrating, because you say I'm doing everything right. I'm especially upset because I never took BCPs for this reason: I never felt comfortable messing with my hormones and I didn't want to have any fertility probs. Still, I'm having such trouble. I know I'm not very young anymore (34 yrs), but I know several women who are my age and older who were recently pregnant. It's just not fair. What is the problem? I've NEVER, EVER had probs. with my periods; they're always very regular and I've never missed one since my first period when I was almost 13. I suppose it's possible that my husband may have a problem.

Either way, I'm very frustrated. I don't know what to do for this to happen. I've been taking prenatal vitamins since May, I'm eating well, etc. Why is this such a problem for me? Because of my age, do you think we should see a doctor?

I'm just tired of hoping every month only to be disappointed. Esp. after timing things right. Sigh.

Hi Christine!

After reading your posts, I've found that I feel the same as you most months in this crazy world of TTC. I hope that you are pregnant. Please let us know how it all turns out for you. **********Baby Dust************ and prayers for you!

Hey ladies, I recently completed my 1st IVF cycle. We have been TTC for two + years and after 9 cycles of clomid and injections and IUI. I had 6 eggs retrieved and 4 fertilized via icsi, 2 were strong with 7 cells and 1 was okay at 4. The 4th had chromosomal imperfections. The Dr. transferred the 3 with hopes that the 3rd one will catch up. The embryologist also did assisted hatching to increase my chances. After the transfer I followed the bed rest suggestion and figured why not hang out and relax for a 4th day just in case.

Today I'm 7 days past embryo transfer. I've had mild cramps on and off, which I've tried to think of as a good sign. Boobs (nipples) have been sore and I've had interesting cervical mucus, on day 5 it was a little chunky and white, since then more like egg whites but thin. The mild cramps and the discharge give me hope! I would love 1, 2 or 3 babies, I just want babies! Oh also I'm 34 and my uterus is great, my egg quality is good and my husband has a mild issue with motility (thus icsi). My 1st blood test is May 3rd. Here's hoping for a BFP. I can't wait for Sunday but I promise I won't use a home test as I know the ovidrel could still be in my system and skew the outcome. I wish everyone nothing but positive thoughts, I have used prayer and the secret to guide me through this and not let it drive me crazy.
