success of IVF in obstructive azoospermia

April 22, 2008

I am 34 years male and have obstructive azoospermia. My wife is 34 years old and normal in all fertility related investigations. Our first IVF resulted in pregnancy with no cardiac activity which was terminated lateron. My wife had very high Progesterone before ET seeing which our IVF expert had predicted poor results (Thinking that this will lead to poorer implantation due to premature endometrial maturation) We will be undergoing 2nd IVF in May 2008. Is there anyway to avoid the above failures of IVF?

Hi punit,

Unfortunately, there really isn't a way to avoid an IVF failure...but the good thing of it all is that we know that fertilization and implantation can occur....and we just have to keep on trying as your prognosis remains good and soon enough we hope that the next attempt will stick..

And our doctor prefers testicular aspiration than epididymal. apart from being painful is it true that various aspiration traumas can lead to testicular atrophy? If yes then how many aspirations in one testes are safe?
