Hey Tanya,

Don't be nervous, although I can understand your reservations. All those shots can be intimidating. Once you get in a routine, it isn't that bad. All in all the whole proccess goes so quickly, atleast i did for me. Well, that was until I got to my tww, where I am now. That part is grueling, I have my pg test on Friday.. we will see...

The needles for most of your shots are not that big, even the progesterone one that is done after retreival. The progesterone and the repronex were the ones I dreaded the most, they both left me sore. Funny the things that we put ourselves through to get a bundle of joy :)

You will do fine. BEst of Luck!! ***Baby Dust***

Hello Tanya

Trynfor and I are in the same boat.2ww. That is the worst.

Those shots are nothing. The needles are so small every time I was due for them I suprised myself that it didn't hurt.

I did 3 shots every night in my stomach. Some burns (follistim, menopure) but it goes away quickly. When you are doing it you'll be thinking of the reason and it will make everything easier.

Your schedule could beconfusing, but let them leed you. You'll have blood drawn all the time (like every 2nd day when you are close to retreival) after day let you know your medicine dose for the next days.

Egg retreival (ER) is not hard, you go asleep and it is done deal.3or 5 days later they go back (egg transfer-ET) and the hard part starts WAITING.

Good luck to you, if you have any questions we will try to answer. Trust me you'll have plenty of them:)

First round i had 4 and turned into IUI, they said it is not enough for IVF. Second I had 6 and only 2 fertilized. They looked good. You only need one to get your +.

Trynfor had way more then I did. She'll tell you.

This is my first IVF. I had 14 follicles going into it, but not every follicle has an egg. They retreived 13 eggs, and 11 were mature. If you have a follicle that is 14mm or bigger usually you will have an egg in there. I had two that were 10mm so they didn't have a mature egg in them. sometimes, docs can let the egg sit in a petridish and it will mature, others not so much. I ended up freezing four eggs and fertilizing 7 eggs. All seven fertilized.. which I though was very good.. and I had two transferred on day three. one of the five remaing embies didn't make it, the other four I froze.

What has your doc reccommeded on how many he is going to transfer in you? That wiegh alot in you decision on how many you want to fertilize. Hope this helps!

Hi Tanya...I am on my 2nd day of birth control pills for my first IVF. I am trying for #2 as well. We have a 4 yr old and have been trying for a sibling for him for over 1 1/2 yrs. We've done 6 IUI's. Very frustrating. I'm actually looking forward to IVF because I will get some answers about my eggs. Anyhow, I'm 39 and not getting any younger. How about you? When do you start your bcp's and how long will you be on them? Maybe we can be IVF buddies?

Hi,

I have done 2 ivf cycles and am in the middle of my third. It seems far more complicated than it actually is. The doctors and nurses will walk you through the whole thing and the shots are not bad at all. Don't worry about it...relax and go through the process.

Good luck to you!

Tanya, I'll be on the b/c pills for 3 weeks as well. I am also starting lupron after about 2 weeks. Sounds like we have the same protocol. How mush Gonal F or Follistim will you be taking per day. My RE is starting me at 300iu's.

Hi Lucky, wishing you much success with your IVF cycle!
