spotting when almost due

Hi Dr. Q-

Well, its a week after finding out that I was 1.5cm dilated and have a bulging water bag...still no baby!

I had an appointment today and my midwife did a membrane sweep - she said that the remainder of my mucous plug came out when she did it. She said that I might spot a bit after the exam but I didnt. My appointment was at 7:30am and did not spot at all (even after sex) - I just started spotting now at 10pm - could this still just be a result of the membrane sweep??

Also, how often is a membrane sweep effective?? I was still 1.5cm, 50% effaced, bulging bag.

Clinically, the membrane sweep by many practitioners is thought to be pretty effective, although never fully proven in large studies, and your spotting can be due to this

Hey girls - I thought for sure that something was going to happen over night, but nothing! I am sore as heck from all the activity yesterday but fully intend to do it all again today anyway. SOmething has got to give eventually!

hahaha. nothing yet. I just came back from my mom's - we went for a walk. I passed a bit more blood tinged mucous today (sorry TMI) - but other than that nothing out of the ordinary. I hope she comes this weekend! If not, at least I have an appointment on Monday.

i went to Shaws and I couldnt find it! I am just waiting for the mail then I have some errands to run and i will stop at the health food store, they are sure to have it. Actually though, speaking of drinking, I have been really really really thirsty, that doesnt mean anything does it?

Raspberry tea doesn't actually start contractions.. it just strengthens the uterine muscles so that the contractions are more effective when they do happen... it works best if you drink it for a while before your due date.

SO, I thought I found the raspberry tea...the box says "Red Raspberry Leaf Herbal Tea" - I get home and read the ingrediants are actually 'hibiscus, rose hips, apples, elderberries, natural and artifical raspberry flavors" - I havent had any yet, I'm steeping it to make ice tea, it sure smells good...

Thanks Meghan, I have actually heard the same thing about the tea, but figured anything at this point is worth a try!

well, it smelled delicious, but tastes anything but...ugh! I have been so thirsty today though that I just chugged a whole glass of the stuff and am still craving more fluids. Now I am drinking White grape crystal light, which is really yummy! I'll have more of the raspberry tea a little later.

Caryn, I would LOVE to go ino labor tonight. My hubby is so hoping I do to. It's nice to fianlly see him as anxious as me!

That's the stuff Erin. I drank it while ttc, but only pre-ovulation. It's nasty. I used to always tell my husband that it tasted like thistle mixed with failure. :)
