spotting/brown discharge/cramps..PLEASE HELP

I'm 22 years old and have been on birth control for about 3 years now and am sexually active. I had my period 2 weeks ago and started taking my pills as scheduled. I have missed a couple days of the pills and took them as soon as I remembered. For the past few days I have had a brown discharge and some spotting, the cramps just started today. I have been under a great deal of stress the last 2 weeks and don't know if messing up the pills and the stress could cause something like this or if it could be more serious!! I'm worried and don't know what it could be.

How many days of pills did you miss? Spotting while on BC is very common though.

There was maybe 3 days where I missed the pill and I took it as soon as I remembered.

The spotting like I said is normal when starting BC and will take a while to normalize itself. The cramps are most likely from the change in hormone level since you missed 3 days of pills.

I've had the brown discharge for about a week now and the spotting just started the other day. Should I wait it out and see what happens?

Yes, the brown discharge is probably cervival mucus mixed with old blood. I would wait it out.
