spotting

Hi all i started spotting on sunday it wasnt much but it got a small bit heavier on monday and i thought AF was here a week early but it was very light and only needed to change my pad once (sorry if tmi)and only needed a liner for the rest of the day i was still spotting wednesday morning just the smallest bit and it has completly stopped now what could be causing this?
