Sperm Mobility

May 13, 2008

I had my IOI done today and, my husband gave his sample and they are saying that his mobility is only 53, is that good or bad. can I still get preggo from this.

May 13, 2008

I think he's above the normal range. I was thinking my paperwork said greater than 50 is good. Plus the washing helps weed out the bad ones. What was the count?

I want to say three mil. If it was not good i don't think i woudn't have had the IUI. But i did and now i am wondering was it a waste?

May 13, 2008

I think they hope for 10 mil for an iui..but an iui def. gave you a better chance! It only takes one and many women on this site have gotten prego with low counts.

Good luck, Denna!!! :)

May 13, 2008

this was the 1st IUI. Do you think that i will have to have another one?

May 13, 2008

Its so hard to say, Denna...lets hope not. A member on this site, Shelly is currently prego with twins on her second iui attempt..I was thinking her count was only like 13 mil...so you have a great chance!

Good luck!

Have you thought about ivf? It doesn't matter what your count is for ivf.....

May 13, 2008

I am prying for this. Even though this would be a 3rd full term. I have a 18 and 11 year old. I am 35 do u think i am crazy for doing this?

May 13, 2008

One wants to be on the safe side >10Million Total Motile Sperm, and can look up the calculation on this site...

I am not trying to sound nasty but i jus spotted like i am about to start my cycle what is goining on now with my body. It appears when I wioe as well as on the liner. Can anyone help

May 13, 2008

Dr.Q I just spoke with my doctor and he's saying that the sperm count was 1.2 mill, and he says that it needs to be 20 mill. the mobility was 67% and something else was 2.7%, so this was not good, but why did they continue to do the IUI on me if it was not good. As for me I am fine my tubes are clear as well as I had 2 folli, in each tube. That is a ggod thing. So there is no way for us to get preggo from thjis right?

May 13, 2008

Spotting can happen after iui..its b/c of the speculum..just like after you get a pap.

May 13, 2008

I would suggest talking to your doc about ivf. Do you have inf. ins. coverage?

Its still possible to conceive from your iui...lets hope you do!

May 13, 2008

Yes the ins. will cover it but, can't we get the count higher and try another IUI? Have u had a IUI? Did u get preggo from it?

May 13, 2008

I have a 3 yr old conceived on first try..no medical intervention. For a second child..its almost been two yrs! We can't find any issues with either of us. We've done 5 or 6 iui..got prego on 2..but were chemical preg./early m/c. We are proceeding with an ivf cycle in May/June b/c we are running out of infertility money with insurance.

May 13, 2008

Do they know why his count is low? Sometimes, if they do..there may be something that can be done for it....

May 13, 2008

no i do not know why it is so low. but they want to take sample and test it to see what it is, the doc say maybe he is sick.

May 13, 2008

That is a good idea..b/c it will regenerate in a few months time and you could perform another sa to see if its better!

Good luck!

May 13, 2008

Deena- Kelli is right- My DH had a great count and three weeks later we went to do the IUI and the count was drastically love not even in the millions :(

We have had several tests done and now we are just seeing improvements... Its been since January

The Urologist said we should expect things to improve in about 90 days... and he seems to be right :)

May 13, 2008

**drastically Low...not love...

May 13, 2008

I do understand and i thank all of you talking to me about this, but I was just wondering why give me a IUI and the sperm is low, so it must be some possiblity to making a baby. Because they would not have given it to me right. I was about to give up but talking it out helps me. Thanks.

May 13, 2008

Denna- there is always a possibility-

when we went to do ours, we were given a choice, and the doctor told me the conception rate was less than 1 %.. so we opted not to do it... he said we had a better chance of conceiving on ourown,, which has not happened

Rembember it only takes one.... hang in there, don't give up :)

May 13, 2008

Ok I will not give up but this is a stressfull thing, I will call it a job a stressfull job. My clock is ticking hard and I am willing and ready now and I have to wait and take my time and follow the days to come.

May 13, 2008

Make sure your hubby sees a Urologist, recheck SA in 2-3 months to see if truly this low, and if so, IVF+ICSI would be your best bet..

May 13, 2008

So we should not try another IUI, if the count comes up to a good count?
