sperm mobility

My husband had his sperm count done and the doctor said it was good but the mobility was low....is there something that can increase the mobility? We have been trying for our second for over a year.

Shonazz,

My husband was told his motility was low as well. We went to a urologist who did 2 more SA's and his results were much closer to normal... It's supposed to be >50% and my husband's was b/w 40-48% on the 2nd and 3rd SA, but only 17% on the 1st SA. The urologist said his White Blood Cell Count was also high, so he put him on antibiotics for 3 months--- we go back in May to determine what his count is and if there was an improvement. I've heard that vitamin supplements such as Vit C, selenium, and zinc can help with sperm motility as well. My husband's taking a multi- and Vit C, as well as his antibiotic at present. Hope this helps!! Best of Luck!!!

Hi Shonazz.........I am in the same boat at the moment. We have been TTC for more than 18 months. My husband's sperm motility is low (15% progressive. I ordered fertilaid for him and is starting them tomorrow. We'll see how it goes but they show improvement after at least two months. Keep us posted.

It depends Shonazz......one still needs 10 million motile sperm to do iui. I can't do iui because my dh's motile count is only 3 million. I hope that with fertilaid we get the required count!!!!!!!!!

I read that you're doing iui in another post.......do you mind if I ask you what is your dh's count and motility?

Shonazz, do you know the volume of SA? It is the only way to correctly determine total motile sperm count.

yes, that's all you need to aske for. So you would take the volume X 30 mil X .3

yes but some doctors will not do the iui unless you have 10 mil motile sperm

DH's sperm count was lower, so we did IUI. If you do IUI, then it has to be washed.
