Sperm and Egg Compatibility?

Not really, if the sperm is mobile and the egg is good, it is possible for the combination to occur, it just may take more assistance. I would see a fertility specialist in your area and find out more about your options.

I have been seeing a specialist and have been undergoing IUI and Clomid. No luck. We are young and "healthy" and still nothing. We are being told the next step is IVF, but that is a BIG leap!

I am in your exact same boat. Matter of face that is just what we were told. Have you tried follistim injections? How does your lining react to the Clomid? Good Luck. It is not easy.

my DH and i went thru a few tests after our 2nd m/c and they said that there could be some chromosomal issues that would cause you not to be able to have children 2gether.

That's so interesting. Can they do tests? Have you had these tests? This has been a BIG fear of mine as we have been together 10.5 years without even a scare. TTC for 3 years with nothing. 4 failed IUI and Clomid cycles. Come on already where is my baby???? Anything you can tell me chelsha would be greatly appreciated!

the did a chromosomal test to see if all our chromosomes were what they were spose to be i think. But that was cuz of m/c's. Like the sperm and egg got together but couldnt form a baby, something like that.

I assume taht you have been tested for PCOS and your DH has had a few SA's?

50% of couples that arent conceiving is due to a male factor so an SA is soooo important! :)

Are you using OPK's when you are not doing the IUI's?

chelsea, I've heard they can do a special form of IVF that will by-pass the chromosomal issues, and allow you to carry a baby healhty and full term. I saw it on the Baby Story. This woman had 4 m/c and they said it was due to chromosome problems, so they did a special kind of IVF and they fertilized her w/ embryos that did not have the chromosome issues and she got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy baby. You should look into that....

We still dont have a reason as to why i keep m/c'ing - our test for chromosomal issues was a-ok, along with every other gosh darn test we have had! lol!

yep. Chelsea, no PCOS. But I do have endo (had surgery in sept) and the same surgery also fixed a septum in my uterus, so it could be just a matter of time. DH's SA have been good, so at least that one side is taken care of. I have just always wondered if our sperm and egg are meeting up and not forming a baby?

Oh for sure they're meeting Hil, for some reason it just aint workin yet. Your eggs are picky! lol talk to your next egg and tell it to relax and live on the wild side. haaha. =) If you watch the "miracle of life" videos, they even say that hundreds of sperms surround the egg and try to burrow down, but the egg has to meet a certain sperm and the 2 just "connect" and inter lock like a freakin zipper or something! Its amazing to watch the computer graphic reinactment of it all- they say right in the thing that it doesnt matter how many sperm surround the egg- the egg and sperm have to match up perfectly and the egg has to allow the sperm in. That in itself, is PROOF for me that it happens when its meant to be, and something greater than ourselves is controlling it...
