Soy - Natural Clomid??

August 07, 2007

I am ttc my 2nd child. The last time I was pregnant was 8 years ago. Last time I was given a progesterone oil shot and a script for Clomid. It worked in two cycles.. My new hubby and I are very much wanting another child, but my stinkin hormones don't cooperate. I took Provera for 5 days which induced a withdrawl bleed 4 days later. I started taking 200 mg of Soy every night from day 2-7.

What do you think of Soy as an ovulation inducer when taken for a short time? Thanks so much!

We humans in this world can be divided into equol producers and non-equol producers... Those who have this "gut bacteria" can fully optimize the benefits of Soy to help with many conditions, such as osteoporosis and all the good things you may hear about it because it helps to increase your estrogen levels. The problem is...who's really an equol producer? We really don't know who produces this bacteria, and let me tell ya, I haven't checked my gut recently...

Nevertheless, soy would not be considered regardless of your equol status an optimal ovulation inducer, especially if taken at the very beginning of the cycle...in fact, it may actually keep you from ovulating, since the estrogen the soy is producing would "fool" your brain into thinking that your ovary is already or has produced an egg creating this "falsely elevated estrogen level" created from the soy that was consummed...now granted, you would have to consume a whole lot of soy to get this kind of effect
