Someone pretend to be excited with me?

August 15, 2008

Christian ate sweet potatoes.. his first taste of solid food!! He loved them! He ate about five bites.. treated that spoon like he'd done it a million times... swallowed every bite.. no spitting them out. He's only 2 1/2 months, but his pediatrician told me to give them to him a couple times a day b/c he's had a massive appetite lately! I'm so excited.. no one else seems to give a damn.. and I know people here will at least feign some excitement for my sake! :)

Love you all!

August 16, 2008

Awwww how cute! I agree I want to see a pic! Don't worry about what everyone thinks it is a BIG step for a little guy!

August 16, 2008

Thats GREAT Meghan!!! GOOD JOB CHRISTIAN!!!!

Now he is gonna eat you out of house and home Meghan!!!!

To cut down on baby food jar expense.. you can make your own.. just buy sweet potatoes, peas carrots whatever and cook them , then food process them in a blender or food processor and then freeze them in ice cube tray's.. its a great way to keep baby food, stays for a long time and super easy to pop out and thaw... you can food process and freeze almost any food that way!

:) Thanks you guys! I'm going to get pictures when he eats them later.. last night we were at my MIL's house and forgot the camera! :)

Yeah, my MIL made me feel bad, by implying that I should stop breastfeeding, because I'm obviously not making enough milk. Thats not true either. Christian nursed to full this morning, and I still pumped an extra six ounces!!!! When a baby is ready for solids, a baby is ready for solids! Thats all there is to it! :)

I totally plan on doing some of the baby food myself, Caryn, once he starts eating a little bit more! ;) There are a few books out there that give "recipes" for different combinations.. and I'm sure the fresh stuff tastes better than the stuff you buy in the store! :)

August 16, 2008

YaY! Oh wow i thought babies don't eat solid food till after 6mo... I have a lot to learn! :)

August 16, 2008

Obliv, they usually start between 4-6 months... but every baby is different as to when they are ready! :)

August 17, 2008

ok will do but this mailing system is bad...lol

August 17, 2008

That's great Meg! How long does your ped want him to have the sweet potatoes? or are you going to try other veggies too? I'm only asking cause I remember with Tori and Matt that if I didn't rotate the color food, like say, orange and green and gave orange colored foods too many days in a row, they's start to get a tinge of orange color in their skin. Weird I know, but it happens :)

August 17, 2008

So cute in the pics! I love his bib!!!! the Chicks will most definitely dig him!

August 17, 2008

The ped just wanted me to start him on them.. and if he does well, I'm assuming its okay to start adding other foods. So, I'll try some peas next, then cereal, then probably some pears. As long as the jar says 1st foods it should be fine. I was reading in what to expect, and on the cereal box, and it says as soon as they sit up with support, and will swallow the food instead of spit it out, they are ready for first foods...

I definitely plan on waiting about a week before I introduce a new food.. just to make sure I really knwo how he reacts to the sweet potatoes

August 17, 2008

aww Christian is becoming a big boy!! Cute pics Meghan!

August 17, 2008

Oh yum! Congrats Christian!

August 18, 2008

Yep, that's what I would do too. It's always good to give it at least 5days on each food to see if they'll have an allergic reaction to it. Also stay away from mixed stage 1 foods like apples/pears in one jar and so on. It's too much for their tummies until they are about 6mos old.

I gave Cameron some rice cereal yesterday morning and he loves it, he's all smiles eating it and does really well too. But every single time I feed it to him, about 6 hrs later he's fussy. I know age wise he's okay but I think his digestive can't handle it yet. So I've decided to wait and not give any more solids until he's 6 mos old. I also read that studies showed waiting until a baby is 6mos reduces the chances of them having GI problems and food allergies. He's happy on the formula and only takes 5oz, so I can always up that if he starts showing he's still hungry. I just don't like seeing him unhappy and last night was bad for him. I gave him a tummy massage and did the bicycle exercise with his legs and it helped him a lot. Today he's back to normal, happy and cooing :)

August 18, 2008

Yup.. all babies are different in when and how they handle it! I agree.. the mixed foods aren't a good idea to start off with!

August 18, 2008

For sure Meg, ya know Cameron is funny little guy. He uses the born free bottles, right. So they come with the stage 1 nipple 0-3 months. He's 16 weeks on Friday, so I go and buy the next size nipples, 3-6 mnths. I feed him the bottle, he does just fine, drinks it well, not gagging, not getting it too fast...looks great. Half hour later, projectile vomiting! (all over my sister...lmfao!!! If you knew my situation with my sister, you'd appreciate the humor in this..LOL). So I dont know, I guess it's back to stage 1 nipple now too???? lol Poor Cameron :)

August 18, 2008

Awww how sweet! Christian actually drinks out of stage 2 soothie nipples just as well as the stage 1... weird isn't it? how babies really do develop so differently? It shows you can't always go by the book!!! :)

August 18, 2008

Sarah I have the same experience with the stage 2 nipples, its says 3-6 months, mines 3 months +. Its just spitting and reflux after she drinks. She seems to gulp it down so fast that everything comes up in a while..So, mines still on her 0-3 months but shes drinkin real well. Tonight she had her 5 Oz bottle woohoo..im sticking with this until shes ready, and I got 4 9 Oz bottles as well :)

Meghan looks like Christian is our next superman, hes unbelievably good :)

August 19, 2008

Caden guzzles his bottles with the stage 1 nipples.....I can't even imagine switching him! :) He would drink a bottle in like 5 minutes!! My son just loves to eat!!!!

Sarah........I'm assuming your sister doesn't like to get dirty? If so....super funny that she got the vomit! :)
