Smiley face OPK's

July 30, 2008

Ok, Im thinking about using them LOL

What brand are there ones?

Where can I get them?

How much do they cost?

How many come in a box?

When should I start testing with them?

I have a 28 day cycle and it seems to always be right on time.

Thanks ladies!

i personally didn't like them! :)

I think I used the clearblue easy digital or something? I got them at target and I don't remember how much they cost...more than regular ones. After I went through one pack, I switched bac kto target brand opk's (since i o'd so late and had to test for 18 days! ha!)

When do you usually o?? If you usually o on cd 14, i would start on cd 10 or so????

I don't like them either..they are too sensitive for me..i was using them the whole time and then when i finally ovualtaed i ended up getting an answer one with the lines and that was more accurate for me..I don't think the how much the cost are worth it..

Now this is what you can do..get the line ones and the smily face ones and just use the smily face for like a second confirmation...if that makes sense

Hey Chrissy,

How are you? I just sent you a message. I use an OPK kit called Answer. It's in a big square pink box and it's only 20 bucks for 20 test strips.

July 30, 2008

Crissy- I have used the answer ones as well, but they were strips that you dip in the pee...i would rather pee on a stick! but they are very inexpensive!!!!

Im good karen thanks for asking! I hope ur well!

So are the Answer brand strips easy to tell if its really a positive?

I always have trouble deciding on if its positive or not

I never had a problem with the answer brand....ever! but I know some have had!

Have you thought about a monitor?

July 30, 2008

Answer is still a line thing...i never got a positive when i used them (wasn't o'ing at that point), but there was ALWAYS a faint line, which frustrated me!

I know its hard to tell if the line things are positive, but i like line tests because you can keep them and compare when it is getting darker and then lighter! If its dark, then light...i would assume you o'd! :)

July 30, 2008

hmmmm, IDK if I should use them or not???

July 30, 2008

I used Answer and never had a problem although I would ovulate on months that I did not get a positive OPK. My fav. it First Response though. I think they now have 20 in a box for about $24 or it may be $34. Im not sure...I'll look on there website and tell you.

what I do Chrissy, is I use the Answer strips to test 2x a day when I think I'm about ready for my surge. When it looks like it might be positive, I use 1 of my ClearBlue digital smiley face tests to double check. Then I know for sure, but it doesn't cost a fortune to do so.

Hope that helps!!

July 30, 2008

Holy crap! They are $45 at CVS!

July 30, 2008

Hi Chrissy-

I used the Clear Blue easy digital OPKs (the smiley face one) I liked them- even though i never detected a surge (that is how I found out I was NOT ovulating on my own). I got mine at Target and Walgreens. I think there were 7 in a box and the cost was around 28-30 dollars. I know they were not much more than 30- as there were a couple months where I actually bought 3 boxes! because I thought I kept missing the surge so I was testing 2x day for longer than a week!

I can't believe how expensive they are in other places holy cow!!!

July 30, 2008

I used the Smiley face OPK as a confirmation. I used First Response and got 2 dark lines and I wasn't sure so I peed on the Clear Blue Easy with the smiley face and I got the smiley face!

After all that work, I still got the visit from AF! I wish I can be like my mother-in-law...just think about being pregnant and WHAM she was pregnant!!! 5 kids later, she told the doctor to cut the tubes after her last kid was delivered! This whole TTC is just down right exhausting! Good Luck Chrissy! Hope you get your BIG SMILEY FACE!!!!

Thanks for all of the info ladies!

i had problems with the answer brand, i don't know why. maybe this happened to some other ladies: 75% of the test line away from the control line was really dark but the other 3/4 of the line was questionable. according to the brand, more than 50% of the line has to be darker to be positive. i had that dark sliver for about 4 days. i had to try to put a kleenex over the sliver to compare the rest of the line to the control. it was a pain, and i just couldn't tell if they were the same shade or darker. it was close. so i got very frustrated with them. i won't use them again...

July 31, 2008

Chrissy- this is what I do.. I bought the CB Easy Digital AND the OPKS off the internet- well Liane lent those to me.. any ways I use the cheapo ones and when I see that line getting pretty dark, I will use one of the tests strips from the digital to confirm ovulation.. sometimes its tought to tell on the 2 lined strips.. however the digital is very accurate.. no ovulation then an empty circle/ ovulation to occur a smiley face..

By doing it this way I am not using all of the digitals each month so I can use it for a few months.. if you time it right and really only use them when you are pretty sure the pee-on OPK is + then you may even be able to use the digital for like 7 months! It sure is expensive but thats what I do!!!

July 31, 2008

LOL hmmm so many different stories on OPK's,,, I only used the one month and didn't like them. I think I will try it one more month and maybe I will have a better experience. I HOPE LOL
