Should you start taking prenatal vitamins while TTC? if so howm many mg a day?

Its always a good idea to start taking a prenatal while ttc, especially for the folic acid. Just take 1 prenatal vitamin a day. You can take an otc one or get a prescription from your dr (might be cheaper this way if you have health and prescription insurance).

I take a vitamin called Prenate DHA, which I started about 2 months before we conceived.

I live in Calumet City, but I work downtown!! I am taking Primacare vitamins. how long were you TTC before you actually did? I had a Tubal Reversal 9/25/09 so I am just trying to stay on top of things! thanks so much TTC

Hard to say exactly--my issue is that I don't ovulate on my own but once I ovulate I get pregnant pretty quickly. My first pregnancy I went off the pill and waited for almost 10 months to ovulate and get a period, never did, and my first cycle on injectables I got pregnant with twins (didnt go full term so lost them to preterm labor). This pregnancy my new RE made me do clomid for three months (which never worked) and again my first month on injectables I got pg again. So in that respect I am pretty fortunate.

Is this your first month ttc? I hope it happens quickly for you.

injectables is a general name that refers to injectable meds that directly stimulate the ovary to grow many eggs. There a bunch of different ones. I used menopur and really liked that--but I dont think that is one of the more common ones.

Have you tried any fertility meds at all?

Thanks for the info.. I am currently taking clomid. I am getting ready to start my third month. We have never had any trouble getting pregnant on our own I just don't ovulate regularly nor do I stay pregnant once I get pg. I have had four mc's.

I am sorry about all of your losses. That must be really hard. Does your dr have any idea why?

First, sorry about your loss of your twins ttc..I wish you nothing but sticky glue from this point on!! Yes this is my first month TTC, I am actually in my most fertile days right now so I got some work to get in! :) I started using the OPK after my first cycle. The first 3 was negative but on the fourth da it was positive so I assume that I am ovulating on my own and regualarly...so we will see!
