Have one beautiful daughter but cannot seem to get pregnant again. I've been trying to get pregnant since I resumed menstruation 12 months ago but can't conceive. I'm still breastfeeding at night, however my BBT charts show I'm probably ovulating and I do have regular periods. I had no problem with getting pregnant before (at 33). I'm 35 now (my GP didn't want to refer me to a specialist until after 12 cycles). My husband's tests were normal by the way.
Should I stop breastfeeding even if I'm ovulating? Does breastfeeding interfere with implantation perhaps? I'm reluctant to stop unless absolutely necessary as it is such an important source of comfort to my daughter and I'd hate to put her through stopping for nothing (besides I've heard that breastfeeding can help with morning sickness?!)
Would really appreciate some advice on this, thank you.

Thanks for advice, I'll try and cut down the feeds, and see how it goes. I don't really understand how come if I'm ovulating I still can't get pregnant but maybe prolactin effects are more subtle than that? Has anyone got any good weaning tips?! Apart from the "cry it out" approach (call me soft!) Thanx
Hey Charley, not saying anything b/c i don't know... but is it you or your baby that needs to be weaned? i ask this b/c both my sister and a friend of mine admitted they were doing it just as much for themselves b/c of the bonding as they were for the baby. It was clear the babies were ready b/c they would more play than eat and be easily distracted, letting go of the nipple throughout the feedings. if your baby is doing that ... it's probably an indication that she is ready to let go. just be reassuring when you stop... as your feeding her w/ the bottle and if she insists, just gently be firm and she will get over it. babies are pretty resilient about these things. and there might be some tears, but that's just the inevitable... you can deal with it now, or you can deal with it later. that's the way i look at it. i hope it's not too difficult for you and baby!
Good luck! i now it's not easy.

If you arent ready to stop breastfeeding then maybe try to look into other options but at a year im sure your baby would be fine to stop.
I took the bottle away at a year and my kids loved being off and didnt miss it at all, my aunt breastfed til my cousin was like 7 or older cuz when she was ready to stop her daughter was so attached that she would sob adn cry and ask to have it. It was so sad :(
