Should I consider Clomid after depo?

June 18, 2008

I am a 36 year old women who took her last (and only) depo shot on Dec 11, 2007. I experienced very long periods and I was prescibed Primolut which brought my cycls back to my normal 28-day cycle in April. I took a blood test on June 11 that indicated I am not ovulating.

My doctor has suggested I start on a 5 day dose of Clomid. I am inclined to wait a few more months but wanted to get another opinion. What are some possible side effects of the drug?

Hailey.. Since age is not in ur favor then I would try something else like IUI or IVF. Im not trying to be mean but once u hit 30 and older then ur chances of TTC go down. I hope that u understand where Im coming from and not take me wrong.

Good luck to u hun!

Thanks Katie. Before I go straight into IUI or IVF route, I would like to rule out all other possibilities and it is likely that the depo is still in my system.

Hailey.. that sounds good. I would just keep other options in the back of ur mind.

THAT DEPO SHOT TAKES FOREVER TO GET OUT OF OUR SYSTEMS! I USED IT AND IT MADE ME HAVE A PEROID THE WHOLE TIME I WAS ON IT!

Chrissy,

I took the depo shot right before my wedding so you can imagine my pleasure at having my period for 6 weeks out of the first 2 months of marriage :-(((. I now regret not doing some research before taking the shot but the week before the wedding was hectic and I trusted my doctor when he said the only side effect may be some weight gain - absolutely no mention of long periods or the delay of my fertility.

Anyway, lesson learned :-))

Yep I know someone who did the depo shot and it took her a yr to get preggo after coming off of it! I also gained weight on it. I gained 30 lbs on that stupid shot and bled the whole time I was on it,, not to mention I was moody as hell! I will never use the depo shot again! LOL
