Short Cycle...confused

August 11, 2008

I went off the pill in July. Had a two day period (mine are normally 4-5days). At which point I started charting BBT, CM and using OPKs. I confirmed that I ovulated on the CD17 which was 8/2. This should have put my period at 8/16 (two week later). Instead it came today 8/11 five days before it was expected. That gave me a 25 day cycle. I thought your preiod ALWAYS happened 2 weeks after ovulation. Is this incorrect? I have never (even before going on the pill) had a period come so early. Is it likely that my next cycle will be so short? Does this have anything to do with going of the pill recently?

Hello, it sounds like either you have miscalculated your ovulation, or you are having some luteal phase defect. Yes, your menses should come 14 days post ovulation. So, it is hard to say, I really think you ovulated earlier than CD17 and that is fine to have a menstrual cycle between 24-28 days, I would not be alarmed by that.

So, my BBT charting and the OPK's could have been off by 5 days? And this is not related to how recently I stopped the pill?

Ok, so I am starting again...fingers crossed.
