If, however, during your IVF cycles this was never mentioned, then chances are this isn't an issue in your case
Short AF = thin lining?
September 18, 2008
Is that necessarily true Dr Q? I was just thinking about it this morning and before I had kids I had the worst, longer, painful periods and after the kids I now have 2-3 day periods and the only day that I actually can wear a tampon is the 1st full flow and the other days are too light to wear one.
Does that mean that I have thin lining? I took baby aspirin last month along with clomid but will be taking 100mg this month and will take the aspirin again.

Chels - This is a huge concern of mine. My RE mentioned that it could be part of our problem. I have really light 3 days periods. I only need a liner througout the entire cycle. She told me that based on that, I may not have a healthy lining for implantation. I have not yet confirmed this with ultrasound. I am thinking I should get some baby aspirin myself.
my doc has never said my lining was thin but even after IUI's and IVF my periods were considerbly shorter than the "average" plus, i used to have terrible cramping and long heavy cycles b4 i had kids.
I took the baby aspirin last cycle and now on CD4 and AF has been gone for 2 days, actually it was almost gone by CD2 - enough gone to BD and not get anything on the sheets (sry TMI). I dont get it at all!
Mrs Trgn - i think abotu you often adn wonder how and where you are!!!

Chels, I have the same worry. Since coming off of BCPs last year mine last 3 days at the most with the 3rd mainly just alot of spotting. I only need a tampon for maybe a day and a half. My doc dosn't seem worried at this point. He says its typical for that to happens for about 2 yrs after BCPs. Before the pills I had 5-6 day periods and they started out heavy and gradually got lighter. I am also trying the baby asprin this cycle.
Chels, I tried clomid for 5-6 rounds and each time it really thinned out my lining. I supplemented with estradiol and progesterone which helped a little but not enough. I switched to femara (which I also substituted with estradiol & progesterone) and got pregnant the 1st time on that which ended as a chemical. The second round I got another BFP which stuck. While I was on clomid, my periods were very short and very light - I would only bleed brown, not red. I attribute this to the thin lining from clomid.
Chels,
You are on my mind often too babe...I was just in a funk for a long, long time. I am just starting to come around. I am doing a intern like thing for teaching and have no time for my 2nd round of IVF but as soon as it'd over I will do it. I have been noticing that ur still having a hard time but our time will come.

I'm anxious to hear what the doc has to say!
