sharp pain

Dear Dr Q,

I never experienced this before during the last 4 weeks of pregnency. Today I am 8 weeks and when I got up from the couch suddenly (i got up fast), I experienced a very sharp pain in the left lower abdomen and it lasted a couple of seconds and when i stood upright, it went away. Is this something that I have to worry about? Havent experienced this before and not since this AM. Is this a pain in the uterus or outside? I just had an U/S 4 days ago and the heart rate and growth were fine.

Hope, I think you may have gotten up too fast and and maybe pulled something. At least I hope that's the case! Your in my thoughts and prayers that things continue to go smoothly for you. Your last u/s was perfect so I really believe that everything is okay and in pregnancy there is always some sort of weird unexplained twinge or quick pain, etc...so keep your chin up! :)

Dr Q is this some kind of muscle pull? It was sharp for a couple of seconds. i understand the uterus is above the vagina..this pain was slightly to the left.

Thanks Jen and Hope. I will call my hospital tomorrow and check.

Dr Q does it sound like a muscle pull? I dont ahve any cramping/spotting. Just taht once.
