Secondary Infertility???

October 22, 2007

I havea health 3 year old son. When I got pregnant with him, it was immeadiately after stopping taking birth control. I nursed him for 15 months and waited to diet and lost about 30 lbs after I finished breastfeeding. I then started trying to concieve about a year ago. We have sex 4-6 times a week consistantly. My periods have all been 24 days apart consistantly since about 3 months after my son was born. My husband swears that we haven't been able to conceive because of my weight loss, but I'm not so sure. Do I sound normal? What should my next step be? I can't find a ton of credited information about secondary infertility.

Hi Jody and welcome to this site...this place is amazing...have you checked if you are ovulating?

October 22, 2007

Hi! IS there a possibility that there is an issue with his sperm and BDing that much is reducing the sperm and quality? Just a thought. Good Luck!!

October 22, 2007

Yes Fran has a point! The more I'm reading the men's sperm seem to be an increase problem with ttc....

October 22, 2007

I just assume it's me because my husband has 2 healthy children (9 and 3)..............

October 22, 2007

I understand but get him to check his sperm. Plus have you checked an ovualtion test????

October 22, 2007

I haven't, I just started reading about them recently. I wasn't concerned about infertility until recently because we were in the process of moving and a lot of things and considering how easily I got pg the first time I didn't think I would have to worry about it.

Just because he had healthy children then doesn't mean for sure there isn't an issue. Things can always change with his health and cause his numbers to decrease. I just wouldn't want you to put all the blame on yourself. Take care!

October 22, 2007

Jody, I agree with Fran...what I would do is take a ovulation test to find out if you are ovulating...how long is your cycle

October 22, 2007

when did you get your period?

October 22, 2007

pls are you taking bbt?

October 22, 2007

October 22, 2007

I'm sorry...clearblue is wwww.clearblueeasy.com...you can the the test at Wal-mart and even on-line plus talk with your husband about SA because just like Fran statement men's bodies can have problems also

October 22, 2007

October 22, 2007

October 22, 2007

October 22, 2007

Have you gone to your dr and talk to him/her about it?

October 22, 2007

no, i'm getting ready to pursue that...we moved so i am looking into new doctors which I'm not thrilled about because I loved my previous doctor

October 22, 2007

I understand that it is differcult to find a good dr....maybe call that dr and ask them if they know a good dr at your new location and/or look on this site....

Hi Jody,

Welcome to FertilityTies! As you can see, receiving good information and support...a fertility work-up is warranted, and that does include a semen analysis, but most likely everything will be normal since you guys already had a child. What will most likely happen is that you will be given some Clomid to superovulate you so that your chances can be increased. Weight loss since you're having regular cycles, I believe, but again can't examine you, has little to nothing to do with the infertility. You most likely have "unexplained infertility" which is why you know have secondary infertility and can search through this site for pregnancy rates (I'm going to assume everything is normal, but please see a doc), and our community of course is here to help...Good luck, and keep us posted...
