Secondary Infertility???
October 22, 2007
I havea health 3 year old son. When I got pregnant with him, it was immeadiately after stopping taking birth control. I nursed him for 15 months and waited to diet and lost about 30 lbs after I finished breastfeeding. I then started trying to concieve about a year ago. We have sex 4-6 times a week consistantly. My periods have all been 24 days apart consistantly since about 3 months after my son was born. My husband swears that we haven't been able to conceive because of my weight loss, but I'm not so sure. Do I sound normal? What should my next step be? I can't find a ton of credited information about secondary infertility.
this is a good site for charting you temp and making notes about your cycle http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/bbt-chart.html and the good thing it's FREE....plus here is the site for clearblue (I used OPK sticks because my cycle is regular-26 days like clock work)...this is the site...www.clearblue.com
Hi Jody,
Welcome to FertilityTies! As you can see, receiving good information and support...a fertility work-up is warranted, and that does include a semen analysis, but most likely everything will be normal since you guys already had a child. What will most likely happen is that you will be given some Clomid to superovulate you so that your chances can be increased. Weight loss since you're having regular cycles, I believe, but again can't examine you, has little to nothing to do with the infertility. You most likely have "unexplained infertility" which is why you know have secondary infertility and can search through this site for pregnancy rates (I'm going to assume everything is normal, but please see a doc), and our community of course is here to help...Good luck, and keep us posted...
