second doctors vist at 9 weeks and 3 days pregnant

March 17, 2008

Dr. Q,

Is it normal for a doctor to only feel your stomach and go over test results you had at the previous vist for your second appoint? I was 9 weeks and 3 days pregnant when I went for my second check up. At my first checkup at 5 weeks and 3 days, they did all the blood work and pap smear and internal check. At 6 weeks I had an u/s. This past appointment was my second visit with the doctor. All he did was go over my u/s results and blood test results and then felt my uterus. Is this normal, or should I have expected somthing more.

I am having second thoughts about my doctor, but if I am expecting to much, I want to give him a chance. What do you think? Thanks

They did a pap and internal check @ 7 W 2 days for me. Then the next visit @ 11 W was just external check, checking tummy and going thru ultrasound results. But since it was 11 W, they did the doppler to hear the heart beat.. Since u already got the blood tests, ultrasounds, pap done already theres nothing more your dr will have to do until next appt when he will offer the NT testing to be done.

If u really are not comfortable with the Dr, u can start looking for another one, otherwise it will be a long 9 months. i had to see a different Dr for 2 months and I didnt trust anything she did and had to move states back to my old Dr.

Good Luck!

Hey babyluck...this is pretty standard. After the inital blood work, pap and internal there isn't anything much to do until you start to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. If there is other blood work they will send you for it and then go over it the next time. I'm 27 weeks now and I go every 4 weeks and the appointment takes 15 min. Weight, pee in a cup, blood pressure and doppler. That's it....quick & painless. take care and good luck! :)

Good Luck :) you'll be great

Your doc did all that he/she should have and some appts will be boring and you'll feel like why did I bother going but in all honesty, all your appts are actually really important. Your next appt your doc should try and hear the h/b and that one will be exciting so be sure to bring either a video recorder or a sound recorder, it'll be a great moment to capture!

Thanks for all the information. That makes me feel a lot better. :-)

My doctor was like that ( when I was pregnant with my son) and I felt like just a patient. I had questions and I felt as if the doctor was trying to hurry me out of there. I switched to a midwife and was MUCH happier!

Can't speak for experience (YET!!) but i asked my friend, and she said that's what her doctor did. If you have any concerns about "what to expect" at your next doctor appointment, ask your doctor. My friend did that, and it really seemed to help her understand what to expect better, as this is her first child. When are you due babyluck?

each doc appt the doc only weighed me, measured my uterus and listened to the heartbeat.

Unless there was a special test or question i had thats all they did each time i went.

i have gone thru 1 whole cycle and had 2 embryos put in and now i am going thru another cycle and will have 3 embryos put back in and hopefully have some to freeze this time around.

I am hopefully starting my injections thursday night!

April 29, 2008

sure they do! Will you be using injections to help you to make more follies with your IUI?

Lotsa ladies on here have been sucessful with IUI! Much luck to you!!

April 29, 2008

why are you doing an iui shonazz if you dont mind sharing.

April 29, 2008

thats great then you prob wont need injectables, they just give you a better % of sucess since then the good sperm has more eggs to choose from :)

April 30, 2008

I think it puts you at around 20% chance but with the injectables you get boosted up to around 30% i think. There are posts on this site that tell what the chances are for each month.

A normal, no issue couple only has a 20-25% chance of getting preggo each month so when there are issues or problems and you do an IUI it puts us back at the "normal" percentage, ya know?
