I meant, *not* to answer questions directly related to pregnancy and safety. They might have a general opinion on these issues, but for liability issues is always best to talk to your physician, and our Doctors will continue to answer those medical questions related to Infertility. thanks for your understanding!
Riding in a grain truck....
August 20, 2008
Hi Dr.Q and Dr.Eva. I am currently 28 weeks and 1 day pregnant with twins and am wondering if riding in a grain truck with my husband through some bumpy fields can affect my pregnancy in any way. I know it seems like a silly question but a friend of mine told me that the bumpiness can send me into premature labor...is that true?
no problem! I know he used to answer those questions before so it can be confusing :) but for now they'll stick to Infertility and other pregnant related questions that do not directly deal with your safety or that of your baby. This is done mainly because all Doctors will have different opinions as it relates to the safety of a pregnant woman and her baby, but only your physician will know what's best :) I hope you'll also get feedback here from other users who have been in a similar during their pregnancy :) especially with twins :)
i can say that when i was 5 months preggo with my daughter i went to Hawaii as a nanny and we went on this crazy bumpy truck to go on a tour and i was so scared that i was hurting my daughter while on it that i didnt even see the gorgeous stuff surrounding me! Anyway, i tlaked to the OB when we got back adn she was like "naw, no problems with that but dont make it a habit".... lol.....
Twins may be different since you are already at risk for pre-term labor.
They do say to go on a bumpy road to go into labor when you are late.... dont knwo if there is any truth to it tho, i was more afraid of making the kid all dizzy and bumping around in there ;)

My DH is a farmer and so when they are combining they have to truck the grain from the fields back to the bins. I have to bring him his meals in the field because he doesnt have time to come home. Usually I stay with him for an hour or so (basically until I have to pee lol) to spend some time with him. If I wouldnt sit with him in the truck a couple of times a day I wouldnt see him at all. He leaves before I get up and is back very late and I am in bed. It is our only time together right now.
Glad to hear that Sarah! I personally can't see it affecting anything. Most of the time we are sitting in the field in the truck waiting for the combine to be ready to be emptied...I think as long as I can still get up into the truck I am going to continue sitting up there with him. I miss him at this time of year and it is keeping me sane! lol

wow i can't believe you're 28 weeks! congrats!
I've asked the Doctors to now answer questions that are specifically tied to safety during pregnancy. For liability reasons is best to ask your doctor as every case can be different.
Our Doctors will continue to answer all questions related to infertility.
I hope you can get an answer from your doctor, and be safe :)
