Retrieval is tomorrow!!! :O)

September 01, 2008

Nurse just called, E2 is at 3218. I did the HCG (Novarel) last night. I'm a little sore in the backside :O) Tonight I get a night off, no meds or shots of any kind. Eat or drink nothing after midnight, tomorrow wear comfy clothing, no make-up, cream, perfume or jewelry, take Levaquin in the am right before leaving the house and be at the office at 8am for a 9:30 retrieval.

Caryn, Thanks for the wishes!!! Levaquin wasn't in my "initial" med pack but the nurse gave me 6, yes 6 RX to have filled. One included the Doxycycline that we have been taking. The Levaquin is one pill to be taken with a sip of water before leaving the house for the retrieval, it's an antibiotic. I was also given:Medrol (once a day for 4 days), Tetracycline (four times a day for 4 days),Valium (not to be taken until the nurses instruct me to do so on morning of transfer) and pain meds in case I need it. I'm glad we are going through this together, I am thinking of you :O)

Katie- I'm hoping that AF stays away!!!!! *****BABY DUST****

September 01, 2008

Jenstar- OMG I do not have any of those meds! I do not even have Doxycycline, I wonder if they will Rx that to my pharmacy??

Valium wow, thats nice... cut down on the nerves?

I got vicodin for after retrieval thats it!

Can't wait to hear how it all goes! This is so exciting for us both!

September 01, 2008

Good luck Jen! I will be thinking of you :) Hope you have a good experience & all goes well !!! XX

September 01, 2008

Actually if its an option I probably would not take it, I have had 6 major surgeries, and honeslty it does not really phase me.. So if its an option I would probably not take it :)

September 01, 2008

Good Luck Jen. Will be looking for your BFP post soon!!!!

September 01, 2008

Thanks so much for all the luck and good wishes!!!

Caryn, I wouldn't worry about not getting the same meds cuz all the offices do different protocols but you might want to just ask because it could be in your file and possible a nurse forgot to give them to you. You will be going back many, many times I went four days in a row the last four days. I would think they would want you to have some kind of antibiotic. Maybe some of the others on here could tell you if they had them too. The Valium is for the transfer, I think because you are awake during that procedure and the retrieval we are "out".

Chels--THANKS! Looks like there might be around 11 that they can take out, the others are probably too small. That is just what one of the nurses doing the U/S told me. I'll keep you posted. :O)

September 01, 2008

Good luck jenstar

Will be looking for you BFP Soon!

I will be starting my injections on Saturday morning. Fingers crosser for both of us.

September 01, 2008

Jenstar, I am going in tomorrow for U/S and B/W- so I will ask her tomorrow abut the antibiotic..

I heard the transfer is similar to pap or IUI.. Is that what you are thinking?

September 01, 2008

The valium would be for after the retreival. I was given codiene. Its just a little bit of cramping and minor pain, not bad, but you'll be down the rest of the day.

The transfer is super easy..just like an iui but they will use an u/s too while they put the catheter in to make sure its in the right spot..they have you go in with a full bladder and you lay for 30 min after.

GL girls!!!

September 01, 2008

Thanks Kelli- I got Vicodin for after the retrieval.. I was told to have someone drive me there but on transfer she told me no meds and if I wanted could come alone.. but of course Dh will be with me, but when I heard Vallium I got confused

September 01, 2008

Yes have a driver and don't eat for a while after. Darn anesthesia. I had dh drive me home after transfer b/c I was told to recline and/or lay flat remainder of the day and we had a long drive home..so I just kicked backed and fell asleep :)

September 01, 2008

Great kell- I am good with Anesthesia, so no worries for me I have had 6 major surgeries and do well with it. Good to know about laying down after transfer and on the ride home :)

September 01, 2008

Best of luck Jen!!!! ((((((((hugs)))))))))))

September 01, 2008

Best of luck!!!!! Keep us posted!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

September 02, 2008

both caryn :)

They just give it to relax you for both proceedures - i dont think you have to take it but i didi. I wasnt really nervous but it was nice to be a bit ore calm when i was so nervous about the eggs they would be able to get and fertilize.

I took antibotic but i dont think every doc does that, its a precaution cuz they are making a little hole in your tubes so in rare cases you could get infections.

I wasnt offered pain pills for after the retreval but i asked for them the 2nd time i did IVF cuz i was a little uncomfy but not terrible.

The think that sucked SOOOOOO badly for me is they said to come with a full bladder so i drank WAAAAYYYYYY too mcuh and was in pain while they were doing the transfer..... OMG, i thought i was going to pee and cry at the same time. The 2nd time aroudn i drank fluids but not as much and it was much better, i actually did lay there after the transfer for 15 min like i was spose to.
