Ready to ask for help?

So, I recently found this site after reading about it in REAL SIMPLE. I'm 28 yrs old and have been ttc since Jan. My cycles are very irregular and usually on the long side (38-54 days). I waver back and forth between calling the doctor to have tests run and wanting to do this all on my own. I guess I'm reluctant to say I need help. I know there are so many of you who have had to have many medical intervention to help you conceive so I'm asking you to give me some advice. How did you finally become at peace with the fact that you couldn't do this the natural way? Is there a process I need to go through before I'm ready to pick up the phone and call my obgyn? Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated.
