Question about u/s pic and fluid...

August 28, 2008

I went to my ob today for a routine appt. But it turned into a bit more. Because, they were concerned about the possiblity of me leaking fluid. The fluid around Trey looked good but they said that does not mean I could not be leaking any fluid so they are gonna keep a check on it.

Are there any signs that I should be looking for to see if I am in fact leaking the fluid around the baby?

They gave me 3 more u/s pics of trey. 2 of them I can tell what they are but the 3rd one I cant tell. I thought maybe one of you could tell me what the u/s pic is showing. Thank you.

If your Dr suspects your leaking fluid, she would put a swab in ur vagina and then if the color changes, then it means theres an amnio leak. The only other way is if some of the fluid actually flows out thru the vagina.

Hope you aren't leaking fluid Shana. Did they measure the fluid around him during the u/s? I know they can do that to see the amount. And that along with the test that Hope was mentioning should be enough to see if you were leaking.

I can't really tell from the pic, but is it his head in the left side then his back on the right. Bone is the bright white so could the spinal cord me the white on the bottom right? Just a thought. take care and hugs!

Thank you ladies...

Fran - They did the u/s and told me that Trey had a good amount of fluid still around him.

They did a vaginal swabbing after the u/s and I have no clue exactly what for. they said something about checking for infection. But not sure if that was what the swab was testing for or if that is what they are sending my urine off for. Or both.

They just said that even though there was a good amount of fluid still around Trey, they could not determine if I leaked some here and there. Just that my water has not ruptured yet.

If they were completely serious that you TRULY were leaking fluid, you would have been admitted to Labor and Delivery to take hours to rule it out..

Many times, we docs "talk to ourselves" to make sure the worst case scenarios aren't happening and check them..

If we fear they are, we usually jump all over them

if there's usually lots of fluid around Trey, lowers the likelyhood of the water bag having been broken

Shana I remember at my last U/S they said something about my fluid also..They said that it was a good amount but i am guessing not what they want to see..So what i had to do is to increase my water intake..I was still drinking way too much caffine and juice and only like 2 bottles of water a day..When i went to the hospital they gave me 3 bags of fluid and I was peeing every 15 minutes..now i have the cups that they give you at the hospital you know with the top and the straw in it and it holds 30 ounces of water..the Dr said since i have twins i need to get in 64 ounces of lfuid a day and most of that needs to be water. So what i do is in the morning i drink one of those 30 ounce cups and then freeze it again and then i drink another around lunch time..and then it is juice for the rest of the day..If i have soda now it is only like half a can..so when i went to the doc today they said that my fluid was perfect..So just try to increase fluids if you are not already drinking tons of water..take care and it is good to hear that trey is dong well..

We are so close..I am 30 weeks and 5 days..
