question about due date and delivery

I know that most women do not give birth on their due dates - but I wondered is it more common for one to give birth before the due date or after? Also, my doc keeps mentioning that my belly is measuring large and that my baby feels big - does this mean anything in terms of when I will deliver?

With my first two kids I actually had them both the day after my due date but went in to labor on my due dates. I agree too with Dr. Q about the docs determining weight/size cause boy even the u/s I had was wayyyy off with Cameron. It was showing he was 41wks gestation and already 81/2 pds at 37wks but when he was born two days later he was 7lbs, 10oz. So it was really off. I also was told my whole pregnancy how big my belly was and how big of a baby I'd have but in the end he was actually my smallest baby.

I also agree with the docs being off..I was told I was having a 9 LB baby.. and I was scheduled for a C Section.. due to the fact they thought I was going to have a tough vaginal delivery.. I had DS at 37 weeks and he was 7.15lbs..... I was told that the baby was "huge" and for me I guess he was still big.. but thats pretty average...
Thanks for your input ladies. Every time I go to the doctors she comments on how big I am, and how big the baby is...kinda has me freaking out...but since the same has happened to you girls, I am going to try to calm down. I still have quite a stretch to go before my little one will be here, but the anxiety is already setting in!

maybe your little girl is just in a growth spurt. I was measuring 1 week to 1 1/2 weeks ahead until recently and now I'm back to normal. At that point there was some concern about a big baby but not now. So I guess you will just have to wait and see a little while longer. I hope everything else is great! :)

Thanks Fran - everything else is wonderful. I'm not sure what to think about her size...I'm sure she is just right :) My DH was over 10 pounds at birth...I was only 7, but my bro was almost 10 pounds too. SO I guess a big baby isn't out of the question!
Funny thing is that when my pregnancy was calculated they had told me that I was a week ahead of where I thought I was - then I had an very early ultrasound, and I was right but they didnt change her due date - so if we go by my first ultrasound it measured me at 6wks 4 days - but my period was saying 7 weeks 3 days - My due date was factored by my period...so technically I am probably a week less pregnant than they think...which worries me a little, cuz if Im big for 32 weeks, I must be really big for 31! lol. SOrry if all that was confusing!

Oh Erin....I'm so excited for you and hope the baby isn't too big! :) But I'm sure she will come when she is ready.
I'm doing well. Just super uncomfortable, which seems to be the major complaint of women as pregant as you and I! I am anxious, but still not quite ready! Ask me again in a few weeks and I will be screaming to get him out! :)

It is more common for people to deliver before their due date (counting all preterm deliveries), but nevertheless, many do go past their due date...no way of truly knowing..
