quality of eggs?
September 24, 2007
I have worked for almost 7 years at a research lab and handled a lot of teratogenic material like ethidium bromide. do u think it could have anything to do with my unexplained infertility? i was wondering if such substances could affect the quality of eggs?

ethidium bromide, as those of us who have worked in a lab and are essential for gels and other substances, is a highly toxic substance. So long as this has not been touched without gloves or significantly inhailed, chances are it has had little to do with egg quality. Unexplained infertility is very common, and there are several people who have handled these substances consistently who also have families. I know it's easy to point the finger on these substances, but if precautions have been used, chances are there this may simply be a case of "unexplained infertility" that if you check this site, can find different treatments and pregnancy rates associated with this.
