prometrium vaginally

I am currently taking prometrium 200mg vaginally 3x/day. I have been taking this since I had an IUI on 4/17. My question is----if I am not pregnant will I start my period while taking prometrium? Or will I have to stop for my period to start? I tested today 11dop/iui and got a BFN.

Hi Tami, I do not know thw answer to ur question, sorry, but I am curious to know what is prometrium? I am going to be starting iui in the next few weeks, is this something I should inquire about?

It is progesterone. It is given to help with people have recurrent miscarriages, or lining issues of the uterus. It is usually used as a preventive measure to help implantation and maintain pregnancy.

Tami, you will not get a period while on progesterone. So, u have to stop it to get ur Period. But dont stop it without a confirmed -ve pregnancy and discuss with ur Dr before discontinuing it. 11 DP IUI is still early..Good luck

Yep, many people don't get a period, although some still wind up breaking through...regardless, you should get a pregnancy test one..
