I went on CD 20 to get a blood progesterone and it came back at 3.4. I was wondering what the normal progesterone levels are before and after ovulation?
I have the Clearblue Fertility Monitor and on CD 19 it came up with the Peak Ovulation Time. I read my monitor instructions that from that you have 24-36 hours til I ovulate. I was just wondering if my level was correct for progesterone as I think I ovulated on CD 20 later in the day, after my blood test.
There should be very little if any progesterone prior to ovulation, and anything less than 2pg/ml is definately not ovulation. After ovulation, anything greater than 3 pg/ml is a definite sign of ovulation, but 3 is the very lower level of it, which this value is consistent with ovulation that was happening when you were getting your blood drawn. The Progesterone level should peak on 7dpo.
Clicked a little too early. We wish you the best of luck this cycle, it's looking good, and please keep us posted by participating and letting us know your results. Like always...
Thanks Dr. I was on clomid, 50 mg this month for the first time. The dr. said that he would like to see my progesterone at an 8. I think I ovulated the day of my test though, so do you think that my levels were ok then? Last month without the clomid my progesterone was less than .05. My ovaries felt like they were gonna explode this month on cd 12-15, is that just from the clomid?
Since your progesterone is already looking good, I'm hopeful that 7dpo your Progesterone will be more than adequate especially since you were given clomid giving you that sensation in your ovaries.
Thanks Doctor! I have peace about it. I am now in the waiting game which is a bit hard when you want to be pregnant so bad! I am trying to keep busy....Thanks again!
I am confused. The nnurse today said my progestrone level was 43 and that this was very good. Is this right as I hear people mentioning levels 2, 7 and so on.
If you are in the USA, thats a great Progesterone level in other places they measure differently.
Mine while on Clomid were always around 22.2-24.3 and they always said that was great, then the month I got pregnant with this little guy it was 14.3 and they said its kinda low, so once I found out I was pregnant I started progesterone meds until my 12th week of pregnancy, and that little guy hung on :)
Anything above 3 means one ovulated but 3 is a very low and not strong ovulation, unless it was done right when one ovulated. Usually they draw the levels on 7DPO to get the best result.
Jolene-so quick question this is my 2nd round on clomid at 50mg and the 1st month mines was 19.8 4DPO and I had a chemical at 12DPO and this month my numbers were 18 at 5DPO and now today I am 8DPO had mild cramps yesterday, back ackes yesterday and today and even though we only BD once 3 days prior to ovulation I am going out of my mind any advise?
Its still a little to early to tell, but those progesterone levels are great sweetie! It means you had a good strong ovulation.
Maybe with the chemical the last month you will get pregnant this go around, I sure hope so.
Why didnt yall BD more if you dont mind me asking?
Goodluck sweetie and I sure hope you get it. I did 5 rounds of Clomid with the 4th having a miscarriage @ 5weeks, and then getting pregnant again on the 5th round after a REALLY late ovulation (CD31), but im currently 26weeks 6days pregnant.
Aww thats great jolene and I happy that clomid finally worked for you guys.Did you test to find out that you Ovulated late? I tested both months and I ovulated on the 8th day after the last tablet the 1st month and this month the 7th day after the last tablet. Me and my DH onlt BD once this month because we were going through allot and its been ongoing for some years now. I am hoping if we don't get it this month which I seriously doubt it that the next month will be better because my doctor is going to put me on 3-7 instead of 5-9. We both have wanted a baby for so long now. my Dh and I have been together since 1992 and allot has happen since then. Thanks for your hopes and prayers are greatly appreciated because we can never have enough of either. Huggs********
Peejay well I certainly wish yall the best and pray that yall get it :)
I ovulated late that 5th round because of the miscarriage the one before it. It screwed up my next cycle even with the Clomid. I did do OPKs as usual from CD10 and on, and never gave up. I said to myself if I dont get a BFP opk by CD30 I will do the prometrium to induce that cycle, like I had to do when I started Clomid, since I dont ovulate on my own, and on my 3rd round of Clomid when I didnt ovulate.
But Low and Behold come CD30 I got a BFP opk, and MAJOR ovulation pain, and on CD31 MAJOR MAJOR O pains and I was soo happy :)
Didnt think I would get pregnant that round, and was going to have to move onto Femara, but 12DPO my temps spiked (they usually fall if not pregnant spike up on that day for me if pregnant), my nipples were still sore which usually always stop on 10DPO if not pregnant, still had lots of CM which usually dries up when AF is coming, and BAM got my BFP on 12DPO with a line one, and one that said "pregnant".
It was well worth the wait, but was still scared as to what happened the cycle before it, but I had a very good feeling about this pregnancy where as the other I didnt.
Im wishing you the best and praying you get that BFP this time!!!
Thanks Jolene so at how many days past ovulation did you notice your bbs being sore? Last month I think mines were sore 8DPO until I got my BFP but this cycle my BBS arent sore at all and the only thing that I am having the same as last month is my CM has been allot like lotion and I have been real tired wanting to sleep allot and I almost craves something sweet at the same exact time and I didn't crave sweets last month or any other time I was pregnant that I could remember. Thats why I am expecting AF to show her nasty face as usual but lady pink was the one that gave me hope because she just got a BFP and she only BD once 3Days before ovualtion and she wasn't on clomid this month and never been pregnant so that put me on a roller coaster with the maybe(s) but back to reality i guess. Thanks again for all your kind words and taking the time out to respond to my post, you are more appreciated than you know.
My bbs would always hurt the day after ovulation until like 9 or 10DPO, if it stopped I knew AF was coming if it continued I knew something might be up.
CM each time pregnant with the mc and with this pregnancy both were very creamy and a lot of CM, usually mine dries up before AF. I dont remember being to too tired until I was like 5weeks along.
Wishing you the best and do keep me posted, miracles do happen, it was great to hear lady pink get her BFP with only BDing one time....amazing :)
Hi Jolene-very amazing about lady pink and just as I knew it AF showed this morning so CD1 for me again. I think I am the same with the BBS because last month when I had the chemical they were really sore and this month they never got sore so thats how I knew I wasn't and in spite we only BD once 3 days before I ovulated. Well my doctor is putting me on clomid at 3-7 this month so maybe this will be my month. For some odd reason I am feeling scared and excited all at once about this month so maybe thats a good sign.
Im soo sorry to hear that AF arrived, but just know CLomid is a miracle worker for most people. It gives you that extra boost. I dont ovulate on my own, so it gave me the chance I needed. Come to round 5 scared me because we were going to move onto another med and if that didnt worked HSG and if that didnt work then injections.
thank goodness Clomid worked. I think you will have a great chance, and I think that it will help you a ton. Dont be nervous, and hey only 2 more days till you start your Clomid :)
They will probably do another round of fertility meds when you do the HSG, atleast thats what they were doing for me.
Well actually im not sure but I assumed thats what they were going to do.
If 5 rounds of clomid didnt take and I had to BEG to do the 5th round of Clomid and not do HSG that round, but if that didnt take and 2 rounds of Femara then it was HSG, but again I had to beg my doctor not to do the HSG till after 2 more rounds of something else, because I knew I didnt have a problem with that, and I couldnt see spending 1500 out of pocket to do something that I knew deep down I didnt need to do.
Thanks you know I feel the same way as you because I had the HSG done in 04/2006 and my tubes were all open and it was a polyp that U/S confirmed I had and when schedule for surgery to have that removed on 05/2006 it was gone the day of surgery but my doctor scraped my uterus anyway and I was preggo like literally 15days later. I dont think I need the HSG this time because I had the chemical last month and if my tubes were blocked that couldn't have happened so I am praying that this round or the next works for me.
OMG jolene I know you didn't know or maybe you mis read but I lost that 1st one at 10wks , my little one heart stop beating but I did later found out it was a precious girl because I had the tissues form her tested to make sure it wouldn't happen again but it did 6months later and test still show no sign of chromosome problems within me so I guess while its a tragedy for me its also a blessing to know its was just natural causes of those MC I had and the chemical just blew me away. I had never heard of such until this site and when I was reading all the women on here who had them I thought please don't let that happen to me and what do you know my 1st round on clomid it happened...so be careful of what comes out of your mouth I learned but its hard.
