Problems getting pregnant

September 26, 2007

I am 17 years old and me and my bf have been together for four months. WE have been having sex unprotected for that long and I can't get pregnant. We want a baby and nothing is happening. Can you help me?

Hi Chelsea,

At your age, most doctors will recommend to try getting pregnant for about 1 year, before seeking medical help...so basically you're still at a point where it's ok to keep trying on your own,

good luck!

well im turning 18 on October 7th so when should I go talk to the doctor?

September 26, 2007

Hi Chelsea,

Talking to a doctor is always an option and you may be able to get treatment, especially if you're not consistently having regular periods. Most likely than not, though, if you are having regular periods, most docs will have you wait a full year before offering any type of treatment or testing.

Chelsea, have you every been to dr to get a pap and a regular check up?

September 29, 2007

Yea I have been to the doctor for a pap smear and check up. Why did you ask that? and I guess I will sit and watch patiently.

just concern when you have intercourse and you bleed...have you told your dr about that?

September 29, 2007

No I haven't because I am scared to know what it is. I don't want it to be something bad.

i understand Chelsea. i'm sure every thing will be just fine but i would suggest to contact your dr and let them know what is going on....many people have problems all of kinds and the your dr wants to make sure that you are OK and remember most important thing is taking care of your health and I know that your boyfriend wants you to take care of your health...

Do I make an appointment with the regular doctor or the health clinic?

September 30, 2007

Hi Chelsea,

Preferably contacting an Ob/Gyn would be best, but a regular family doctor (at any health clinic) will also be fine for this...

September 30, 2007

Alright I will make an appointment for this week sometime. I really am scared!!

September 30, 2007

Hi Chelsa, I saw your post about being scared going to the dr and that is normal but when you go you can ask the dr and the nurse so many questions and they will take care of you and that is the most important thing...I remember when I would go to the obgyn and was 100% sick to my stomach and everything would be fine because I had a great dr and he would take his time answering my questions and concerns that I had and also remember that you have so many women on this site that come from so many backgrounds and all we have in common is the dream to a have a family....much love to you and know that we live in a wonderful time that when we have problems with our health that we can go somewhere and can get taken care of and that is so important love, happiness, and our health is the most important and everyone on "Fertility Ties" want the best for you...sending you a big huge and remember that you have us.
