Hi doc Q,is there any difference in the treatment of both these infertilities.I think I have Secondary infertility (7 months of ttc).I m on clomid 50 mg,I ovulate on my own ?Will higher dose of clomid be of some help?Should it be worth to ttc for 1 year before going for treatmnts like IUI,or its just wastage of time...Thanks

Hi BabyLove,

There is no difference in the treatment for either of these diagnosis...

Most people recommend you wait the year until seeking treatment...but I've had several patients who simply want treatment immediately and that's ok also...

what is secondary infertility? Does that mean that you have children with no issues conceiving and now cant get pregnant? How old are you?

I also ovulate on my own and have 2 children from a previous marriage - i have gone thru 2 IUI's without a BFP and now i will move on to IVF in January. Im 33 years old and DH is 32.

U r right chelsa .If ur DH SA is OK then it might be that u have secondary infertility. But since u conceived twice,May be it is the issue with ur DH.

I m 29 and my DH is 33 . I conceived 3 yrs ago but it was a stillborn :( .We started trying 7 months from now..All in vein. All tests are normal..

Is ur IVF covered under insurance,I hav heard ita too expensive..Won't it be better to give one more try for IUI..I have heard chances increases every month with IUI and One should give atleast 3 tries.....

yes, everything for infertility is covered at 100% after i pay my $300 deductable for my insurance. They cover up to 6 IVF or $30,000 over a lifetime so we are very very fortunate!

All our tests come back fine, DH has a small issue with morphology but that was it. We conceived on our own in July of this year but sadly lost the baby at 5.5 weeks :(

SOrry about your loss, i cant even begin to imagine how horrible that was for you and DH.
