PrimaCare One Pre-natal Vitamin

March 27, 2008

I have been doing some comparing and it seems as if yes it has the DHA and EPAs in it, it doesnt have anything else really like B12s, Zinc, no a lot of Vitamin C, not as much calcium and what not.

Im soo confused. Am I missing out on stuff I really need to be getting??

Im thinking can I take my OTC prenatal that has 800mcgs of folic acid, versus the PrimaCare One 1mgs, and find a good Omega 3 that has DHA and EPA in it?

PrimaCare One has 25mg of B6 and this one I was taking has 2.6mg of B6, so im guessing I can get more B6 if I need to, or is 2.6, 26mgs? Great now im confusing myself...haha!

Can someone please help me!

Thanks soo much!!!

How much is in the B12...hehe, I dont think you put in the amount!

Thats the exact same amount of stuff my ones over the counter have except I get

Vit C 120 mg

Vit E 30 IU

Thiamin 1.8mg

Riboflavin (Vit B2) 1.7mg

Niacin 20mg

B 12 8mcg

Iron 28

Everything else not listed is the same as yours.

I just know they are saying DHAs and EPAs are a big deal, so im trying to figure out where I can get that and take that with my prenatals.

March 27, 2008

If I can do this, it will save me freaking 30 dollars a month. Cause these prenatals will last me till well A LONG while and they were only 9 dollars for 240 pills.

Thanks sweetie!

March 27, 2008

oh, ha ha its Vit B12 4mcg and that is only 50% of the daily value

March 27, 2008

cant you have your insurance cover the prenatals? if your doc writes a script you can.... they have these ones that taste like vanilla..... mmmmmm!

March 27, 2008

See these ones OTC that I was taking before get 8mcg and thats 100%.

I really need to find something that I can get that has Omega 3s in it with the DHA and EPA...I wonder where Hope is cause normally she knows thats stuff...haha.

Or Dr. Q :)

March 27, 2008

They wont cover it. Before insurance they were 56 dollars, after insurance covered it is 30.00

March 27, 2008

All the prenatals I have looked at are like that.

March 27, 2008

You can get your Doc to write you a script for some cheaper ones..that is what I did when i went in and they gave me some samples until i got it filled..I am taking not the DHA prenates it is two pills one is a gel pill and the other is like the vitamin i guess i think that the gel one is the DHA..i am not sure though..but anyways you can talk to your doc about this..

March 27, 2008

wow, thats crappy, its something that you need to have when you are preggo so why wouldnt they cover it? Bummer!

Anyway, as i am reading here it says that folic acid, iron, zinc and Vit D are what are important for lactating and preggo ladies. And then just take an extra vitamin for the DHA and EPA maybe? Yeah, where is hope anyway, she always knows this stuff!!!

March 27, 2008

Haha I know right.

Thanks sweetie! I think im gonna stick with the over the counter ones I got that are similar to yours that are prescribed, because all I paid was 9 dollars for a 240 tablet bottle thats still got a lot left.

Im thinking these prima care ones done have as much that they should have and im disappointed in that :(

Im gonna try and find a DHA and EPA vitamin.

Thanks!!!

March 27, 2008

I found these at the vitamin shoppe online.

I wonder if these will work??

Im gonna make another post I think in a minute, for Dr. Q

when did they insist that we take DHA and EPA anyway? I never took it and my kids came out with eyes and brains... LOL!

j/k.... im glad they are having preggos take this stuff now, maybe we will have a bunch of genius adults in 20 years!!! :)

March 27, 2008

Haha I know. It also helps in possible postpardum depression and stuff like that as well.

Its supposed to be really good. So heck if we can get this stuff from the vitamin shoppe. Its 100pills for 16 bucks and take that with our prenatals, that really helps and will last what a little over 3 months, so only have to buy it a few times, and they say to take it after birth while breastfeeding as well :)

March 27, 2008

cool! thats a great price!!!

March 27, 2008

I know right, its great :)
