premature rupture of membranes

July 28, 2008

To any doctor,

I just suffered my second miscarriage at 19 weeks my water bag ruptured. My first miscarriage my water ruptured at exactly 19 weeks as well. With the second pregnancy I had a cervical cerclage, my doctor thought this may had been the cause for the first rupture, however it my bag still ruptured even after the cerclage. The doctors are still saying that it was "probably" my cervix and are suggesting a transabdominal cerclage in the future. Could this possibly be the reason, or could there be any other reason why my bag is rupturing such as infection, my uterus not growing, or something i am lacking as far as a hormone. Please, I need some sort of direction, and I can't keep losing my babies at 19 weeks. I want to have a child and I don't think my heart can go through another loss. Any insight would be appreciateed, thank you.

I'm very sorry anna marie...

unfortunately, many times there truly isn't a reason why this happens, no matter what we test...

A cerclage may not help anymore, wether abdominal or cervical since it failed already as the problem doesn't appear that your cervix is dilating (that's why the cerclage was there) but that the water bag breaks...

No real reason if all tests came back negative...hang in there, and if no suffering is desired, consider a surrogate, and know this is tough to consider
